Re: Wisconsin Hockey Part 2 - No Silly Eaves-isms, Just Win The Title!

I didn't really pay attention to the last two goals but I don't really think this is a loss to blame on Bennett. The first goal is on Johnson and the others were tips where our defensemen were content to let Gophers stand right on top of Bennett and get rid of any possible chance he had to see the puck. However, I do think we need to stop playing him because regardless of how he plays, the team seems to crumble around him.

The loss definitely wasn't Bennet's fault alone. The team looked like they were interested in anything BUT playing hockey this afternoon.

That said, Bennett has seemed like he can't corral the simplest of shots for the past 2-3 months every single time I've seen him. Like somebody else said, I get nervous every time I see him on the ice because it seems like he makes the simplest things hard.

Eaves really needs to just bench Bennett for the rest of the season. He has proven that he cant step up when they need him to and isnt a very good goalie. I know his stats arent much worse than Gudmanson, but he just seems very shaky and has zero confidence. A lot of the goals Ive seen him give up werent deflections or one-timers, they were shots that he simply didnt react to quick enough. IMO, thats unacceptable at this level.
Unless Gudmanson starts really struggling, I see no reason to start Bennett.

Don't worry about Bennett.

As soon as it was clear that today's game wasn't going to have any impact on the standings, it was equally clear that Bennett was going to start.

Barring injury, I will be extremely surprised if we see Bennett again prior to next fall.

All true statements. Our 18 skaters didn't exactly do B2 any favors today either. Tough to win games giving up 5 PP goals.

True, but for a team to not give up 5 PP goals, the goalie needs to be the top PKer on the ice. B2 didn't do himself any favors either.

After a game like todays, PLENTY of blame to go around for everyone. No way that UW makes the F5 if the team plays like that next week.

Ahh. That explains a lot. So you're probably a Cubs fan too. Barf.

Actually a life long Brewers fan. See, my dad grew up in Milwaukee and went to UW and I was raised a Brewer, Packer and Badger fan. The Hawks were the only Chicago team I was allowed to like as there was no Wisconsin equivalent.

The question is, could you be any bigger Doosh-bag?

Does anyone in real life like you?

If you stop responding to him, YOU stop looking like the bigger idiot (which is saying something).

When Daives scored, I was sure UW was going to win the game. They had controlled the 2nd period to that point and the rodents looked very interested in getting a bullet to the head. Then UW started taking penalties, mostly stupid, left and right and that was it. What a bunch of dopes. And the fact the Captains were the ones doing it was pathetic. It's like they had nothing to play for and it showed. But they had much to play for, the biggest thing was Geoffrion winning the scoring title, helping B2 get his head on straight, and keeping positive momentum. The Captians are to lead by example and to help curtail the very things like they were doing. If the next game wasn't the playoffs, I'd bench Geoffrion and McD, along with B. Smith.

The way UW played makes me think they may take beating UAA for granted. Not a good idea.

Yesterday's game was so extremely disappointing on so many fronts. It was ugly and difficult to watch. I can't come up with a single excuse for the lack of energy and overall poor play in a rivalry game.

For a team that has won 22 games this year, they are surprisingly inconsistent. That doesn't bode well for going deep into the NCAA's.

I DVR'd the game because I took the 8 and 6 year old Ice Skating and I then I saw the score of 6-1 and from reading the blog.... I have decided not to watch it and hopefully this type of playing does not continue for the Badgers

Nothing to see here. Just move along...

I don't get it and have questioned this ..."not ready to play..." mentality we've heard in the past. UW has a couple of leaders, but where is the leadership? This shouldn't happen this time of year.

Goody has won the goaltending by default. I'm not saying he didn't earn it, but he sure wasn't pushed. (I'm sure Coach Howard is just watching and shaking his head in disgust.)

Well at least you're a Brewers fan, then. Sorry for degrading you by calling you a Cubs fan. Less than one month until opening day!

So you guys support the Wild instead. Boy, now theres a winning franchise. They have made the playoffs what, like, once since their inception.
One thing you convieniently forget is that it was a Wisconsin businessman and his money who brought hockey back to Minnesota. "The state of hockey" and Minnesotans had little to do with it.

This post is so wrong, I'm not sure what to make of it...

1) The Wild have made the playoffs three times. They went to the Western Conference finals in '03.

2) The North Stars COULD have moved to the Target Center and would've been fine in Minnesota, but Norm Green kiboshed it over an argument over board advertising issues (Coke v. Pespi kind of stuff).

3) Norm Green will rot in hell next to Bill Wirt$ for all of eternity.

4) What Wisconsin businessman? Leipold? The guy who owned the Nashville Predators and wasn't part of the Wild until at most two years ago?

It looks like we're pretty much locked into playing in Albany. I was hoping to make the trip to St. Paul for the opening round games. Crap.

3. Wisconsin

Nothing has changed for the Badgers. As mentioned in the last article, they have a sizable edge over any team after them, and it will be next-to-impossible to catch Miami or Denver.

Lock it in ... Wisconsin will be the No. 1 seed in Albany, a place where it has a somewhat — interesting history.
