You better be talking about just the practice rink and not the Colliseum Ice. Because that might be the worst ice surfaces in the state.

Yes, the "arena" is the Bob Johnson Hockey Facility. The "Coliseum" is the 8,000 plus seat venue for games.

Does anyone know if annual donations to the athletic department can be "earmarked" for the hockey project? Would a contribution directly to the hockey project allow the donor to receive credit for continuous giving points, etc.?

Also, known as the "barn"... Patriots and Waunakee practice and play games there when they need extra ice.

Yes, that's my understanding. Back when UW still had a Blueline Club, the annual membership fees were 100% credited to Badger Fund donations. You've got an extra couple of million laying around you're willing to offer, but you want to be sure you're in line to get any UW FF tickets, right?

As do the Polar Caps and several high schools.

Ah yes, because nothing says hockey practice to me quite like a Clydesdale Auction!

Well, that's another financial advantage to building this arena. That ice sheet would immediately become the best facility in the region. Another revenue stream for UW...

What about the Field House? Couldnt they just do something like what they do at the Kohl to switch back and forth from basketball to hockey.
That place might be a little small but Id think they could expand it for less money than building something new.

The Field House wouldn't just be small in terms of capacity, it would be small, period - the building is only 230 feet long, and a rink is 200'. Plus, if you look at the supports inside for the roof, they definitely encroach on the area that would be required for a rink. I don't think one fits in there.

Not to mention that the wrestling and volleyball teams would be displaced. In addition it's a fairly historic building and I can't see gutting it.

Oh yeah, and no way a rink fits in there.

Thats kind of what I was thinking, but I wasnt sure. That place is really little.

Good 3-2 win tonight. Always love beating the rodents. I seriously hate that M-I-N-N-E-S-O-T-A chant so much, be a little creative.

Hope they can sweep on Sunday.
