Wisconsin Hockey 23-24: Hastily Making Wisconsin Hockey Great Again

Bummer. Wisconsin dominated stretches of play like the 05-06 team. Should have scored 3-4 easy.

ah well, regroup and drop the rodents tomorrow.

Yeah, it sucked missing Cruz but that first period was really garbage. I was saying to myself "why are these guys skating so slow". The second and third periods were really good and on that power play they hammered the net with pucks, just like Bill Howard would have wanted them to do. Close definitely made some big saves and there were some good looks that just didn't get good fiberglass on them. Personally I hate three and three overtime, those are 50/50 deals, and it sucks to of old played them for two or three periods and not get that extra point. They better come out in that first period today with some piss and vinegar and stick it to these guys.

Is Cruz out for the weekend?

I believe so. I think we are also sitting at 0-3 without him.

It was noticable not having Lucius last night. There's not another playmaker and finisher like him in the team. Maybe Finley, MDP, occasionally Whitelaw can make things happen. Fitzgerald and Tassy sometimes. And Lindmark. Lindmark seems to come up big when it's needed. But Cruz is the guy that can make things happen out of nothing on a consistent basis.

That being said the Badgers had their chances last night and played hard. Just couldn't put it away.

Hopefully someone steps up tonight and puts a few pucks in the net.

I predict a big game from Bantle and Finley tonight.

That was a hard game to watch.

What a wretched effort by the home team tonight.

Looked tired and were thoroughly outplayed other than the first 5-10 minutes.

Mac stole us that tie.

Reversal of Friday night where we looked to be the far better team... but lost.

Screw you guys. We took 9 of 12 pts from the Goofs this year. Put it in perspective. Plus we have 2 games in hand on Sparty. You guys should complain more. Fuckin boomers.

That’s not very nice. lol

Was it as hard to watch on TV as it was in person? That was rough. Thankful for any points out of that one.

And I’m a millennial.

How is this for perspective:

-The team is 1-2-2 in their last five games.
-They look like a shell of themselves from earlier in the year.
-They have scored only 1 goal in three of their last four games.

We have to go at worst 5-1-0 in the next 6 against Notre Dame, Ohio State, and Penn State for there to be some sense of comfort. We also are 0-2 against MSU this season.

This team really needs to work on passing. Tonight they were so bad at it. Minnesota's passes felt like they were always tape to tape. Wisconsin was literally playing chip it off the boards and change and dump and change almost the entire game. Earlier in the season, we would have three crisp passes during the breakout and that would lead to puck possession through the neutral zone and into the offensive zone. Much more effective strategy that way than what we saw tonight.
