Wisconsin Hockey 23-24: Hastily Making Wisconsin Hockey Great Again

Anybody have or know of footage of the 2000 series against NoDak when Hukalo had OT winners both nights?

I was at the Saturday game - amazing couple of nights.

They used a photo from the Friday game for the schedule poster the following season and it hangs in my basement to this day.

No Badger has ever jumped off the ice at me like seeing Heatley in person did.

Not even Pavelski.

And that 2010 team ran into the only team that could have beaten us - freaking waterbugs from BC. Bad matchup unfortunately.

Good job taking care of business tonight against and overmatched opponent.

So fun that Badger hockey appears to be back.

Glad we secured the win. Lindenwppd had too many high qual shots out of the gate and the boys looked a little sliggish the 1st period. However, it was obvious that Lindenwood didnt really belong on the same ice sheet. Was glad we didn't get sucked into the cheap shot-retalitory game in the 3rd. Tonight need to be more crisp and getthis W and get out.

I really dont understand why we are scheduling these non conf games. They offer nothung and only hurt the RPI. Instead of playing Augustana, Long Island, etc they should be playing NCHC or other regional teams in the CCHA like Mankato, Northern Michigan, Tech, Bemidji, etc.

Or maybe a H & H series with Maine?

I have the entire games on VHS. I should send all those in and get them onto DVD's. I have quite a vast archive. Might as well send in the Iron Chef and Schumi F1 races too.

The astounding record aside, the team D being #1 in the country is what jumps out at me. Their biggest liability has become their biggest strength. Playing great team D and having balanced scoring gets you hardware.

My Dad and I were at the Saturday night game. Electric atmosphere. Heatley, Hukalo and Rhino, what an incredible line!

If you ever digitize those tapes i’f gladly pay ya for copies.

i’ve got the 1990 and 1992 championship games on vhs and I’m getting them converted to dvd by a Madison company: http://www.sooperdooper.net/

I had the pleasure of attending that Saturday game also - incredible experience. And I had that schedule poster the next year; but, unfortunately, I don't know what I did with it. Really wish I would have kept it.

I mean, that's fine. There just is less need for the travel expense to get to Maine and vice versa when there are similar quality teams in the back yard where you just hop on a bus.

Maibe ilis pretty darn good this year. Time will tell, but I think top to bottom the Big10 and HE are the toughest conferences this year.

Agree. I really thought the 2010 team would win it all.

That F4 game against RIT I felt hurt more than helped. It was over as soon as it started and I think they relaxed a bit too much. But, even the Champ game against BC was 2-0 in the 3rd, no? It wasnt exactly an offensively gifted team.

And I know we rag on Eaves and his recruiting faikures but even the 12-13 & 13-14 teams werent bad. Hell theu won the WCHA tourney and the first big10 tourney without needing AQ status. Unfortunate finishes but those teams had talent. We cant say the only good teams they've had are the NC teams. Zero sum no way to go through life lol.

Landmark got a penalty a face off violation? When did that rule start? That is a little too much imo.

And why doesn't the badger band play "drop the puck" anymore? There were 4 or 5 times in the first when the refs needed a reminder to drop the puck and get out of the way.

Watched a bit on BIG+ tonight. Crazy game.
Unlike previous years I actually believed we would be able to make something happen in the 3rd, I was expecting it.
Announcer was a bit out of his depth when it came to OT and the irrelevant shoutout. "Wisconsin picks up the extra point in the standings"...what standings??? The game is an NCAA tie, the shootout counted for absolutely nothing outside of a moral victory.

They clearly don’t take lesser teams seriously. 1-0 loss to Anchorage and now a 3-3 tie to effing Lindenwood. Embarrassing.

I think they took them seriously....no reason they should have tied them though. Boys got sucked into the penalty game. Almost an identical game to the Alaska one where they were chasing goals and pressing instead of playing their game.

A little bit of bad puck luck, some stupid penalties they were goaded into taking and a lucky bounce goal by lindenwood were really the difference. Outshot shot them to one, it isn't like we're not trying.

I mean also, for perspective...CC beat Nodak in OT 2 games in a row and last night BC lost to Providence. Miami also beat Western. Once again looking at success as a zero sum game is not healthy or appropriate. They are 10-0-1 in their last 11.

I don’t think Wisconsin was taking Lindenwood lightly. I watched the second and third periods last night. Lindenwood is lucky the score wasn’t 10-2. Wisconsin was absolutely swarming them in the final 2 periods.
