Wow! So glad Badgers found a way to get this done, despite the refs robbing them of two goals with the instant replay bs. Will be very interesting to see what Hastings has to say about it in postgame.

Solid effort. Winning the individual battles. Not slacking off. Fun to watch. Tomorrow will be a good litmus test.

Transition game looks really good.

Anyone who saw the game - the BSU goals, were they legit? On McClellan? On the D? On paper the game looks as lopsided as can be but obviously that wasn't the case. Radio commentary isn't talking much about them so I'm guessing they were solid goals, even if they only had a fifth of the SOG.

Apologies for the broken language. Went back to watch each one and I'll try to describe each goal against.

1st goal against - Badgers missed/fanned on two between the dots scoring chances (in BSU zone), BSU came down dumped the puck in, won the battle behind the net with 2 BSU players on Palodichuk, puck went to the left point where Palodichuk lost his stick along the left boards and took too long picking it up, BSU player slid it across to the RD who made a great pass down low on the left side for a tap in goal. Kehrer was put in a tough spot. He could only guard one of two players and I'm guessing he didn't know Palodichuk was taking so long to get his stick along the boards.

2nd goal against - BSU power play rush. Palodichuk pushed forward to take space and they passed it through him to the next guy, creating a mini 2-on-1 from the top of the circle to the net, whom passed it across for a tip in goal. Horbach was late to covering his man.

3rd goal against - Rush into the UW zone, BSU player was faster than Stramel, stopped and spun near the right side of the UW goal, and tried to pass it to the BSU player 2-3 feet from him... Somehow, some way, the puck made it through the first BSU player, past Kehrer AND past Jugnauth for an easy wide open net goal out front.

Great win! Way to stick to the plan. They outshot the hell out of BSU.

tomorrow will be a huge test.

I keep watching the replay of Lucius scoring in overtime :)

I'll be buying the NCHC TV as well for tomorrow night's game. Day pass is $17... Thankfully, it looks like most of the rest of the games for the season are on big ten/big ten +, with one series on Bally Sports and the other on Peacock. All these streaming services are ridiculous.

For real! The passing is so much better too. Tape to tape almost every time. They were skating circles around Bemidji players.

I keep rewatching that goal on social media. That was a Brian Rafalski type pass to get Lucius the puck!

Much appreciated!

Any opinions on the disallowed Badger goals?

The first one was an abysmal whistle. The ref was looking at the puck sitting behind the BSU goalie and decided to blow the play dead anyway. The puck was never frozen by the goaltender. I tried to upload a picture of it, but the website doesn't like attachments for some reason.

Edit: I uploaded it to twitter: https://x.com/thedude9210/status/171...191290454?s=20

That is half a second before the whistle blew.

Second one was definitely goaltender interference on Lucius.

The first one was an abysmal whistle...

Frustrating on the first one but glad to hear the second one was valid. Had the radio on for the latter and the commentators were baffled by it; mostly how the video review suddenly became available for BSU.

Excited to see how they show up tonight. Hostile environment, against a perennial talented squad, coming off a quasi-emotional overtime victory - a great early test before B1G season kicks off. Lets Go Red!!

Badgers looked like the better team. Didn't get the rolls today and didn't finish a number of chances. Had a couple defensive lapses again which cost them those goals.

I'd take badgers over UND 7/10 games.

5 posts and two wide open nets. Zero puck luck. However...they took some really bad penalties. Thats gotta get cleaned up. Played six mins in the bin in the 3rd when they are chasing a goal...not good

Just cant give up a shorty. McClellan overplayed and left his backside wide open. Otherwise he played great. The other G he gave up, felt like D didnt check the ND player coming down the slot. I do llike how active and all the pressure the D brings every shift though. Feel like on any other day we win that game with some breaks.

Penalty kill was pretty darn good and is.

Have to do better on face offs. ND doubled up Bucky in the dots.

Wisconsin is 3-1. When is the last time any of us old-timers felt good about this program? Maybe Granato’s first season?

I feel very good about where Hastings has this team headed. It’s amazing how quickly a great coach can affect changes to a team that result in winning habits.

through 4 games the only negatives I’ve seen are all items that can be coached out of the players like too many penalties or the couple of d-zone lapses.

I’m beginning to think 15-20 wins will be a reality this year and next year an NCAA bid for sure.
