Wisconsin Hockey 23-24: Hastily Making Wisconsin Hockey Great Again

The behind the scenes thing with Hastings was interesting. I was impressed by the idea of changing lines with effort and not lollygagging to the bench. He must have saw something in film. Hopefully the buy in for the lads is easy considering his resume.

The intensity and accountability levels are completely different. TG was immensely too soft and had a bad system. Even zone exits were bad...pass the puck to cebter and then get it in the zone/chase it. As opposed to, no, we will exit the d zone with purpose and pass to the open man to quickly advance the puck through the neutral zone, and then to establish and keep posession in the offensive zone.

Novel, huh?

Hastings made some sort of comment either post game or during his weekly presser that it’s a lot easier to pass to somebody just past the middle of the dots than to try and pass to someone on the far blue line.

Also, for those paying close attention, Lindmark made a comment about making sure they do their dailies during the post game on Sunday. I’ve never heard a UW player say that. I’ve heard Hastings say it. Now a player. The players are listening. They are a reflection of the coaches.

I used to hear my high school’s football coach say that all the time. They have been one of the best football programs in Indiana since I graduated high school back in 2014 (he started my senior year and we went undefeated till the game before state). Great coaches preach great habits.

I'm sure these kids are tired of being on a sucky team and losing, so buy in should be super easy with a proven coach. I think Hasting's systems and habits will produce more NHL ready guys than TG's.

Let's go RED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I never understood how K’Andre Miller played worse and worse every year here and then was magically a top 4 dman in the NHL. Tony really couldn’t teach players to play better or as a unit.

No he was indeed stymying their development. Miller is the poster child of that. At least he overcame it, many did not.

Really goes to show that Caufield and Holloway flourished from their own doing despite the circumstances.

Bemidji tonight. 5-2 losers last week against the gophers. Measuring stick game. I think I’m going to buy the one month subscription to flohockey so I can watch this game and it looks like the series against Tech is on there too.

$30? Yeah that’s a no for me. I give you credit. How about a one game $10 deal or something.?

No instant replay available is ridiculous. Bemidji shouldn’t be hosting game if they don’t have basic services needed for a game.

Way to stick with it given the adversity down the stretch. Last year's team folds up and loses this game.
