Re: Wisconsin Hockey 2019-2020: Time to Get Offensive

I'm so sick of our forwards flying the zone and then the puck gets turned over at our blue line. Jesus... and now Miller ties it! Then he's talking smack like he's even playing decent hockey :help:

He should get drilled on the next shift. Just sayin'.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey 2019-2020: Time to Get Offensive

Looks like bonus hockey, with BS OT rules....whee.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey 2019-2020: Time to Get Offensive

Really ballsy to put Miller out there 3v3... Caufield 0/2 against just LaFontaine...

Re: Wisconsin Hockey 2019-2020: Time to Get Offensive

Whelp, we got the extra point. Thought Berry played well. Miller needs to be catapulted somewhere. Cole Caufield is as snakebit as a hockey player can be.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey 2019-2020: Time to Get Offensive

I thought the 3 on 3 was as exciting as it could be to watch. So many great chances by both teams!

Tough being a Canadiens Draft pick. Lots of eyes on you:<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Cole Caufield has 1 goal this month (7 games), and just 3 in his last 11 games. Thanks to an amazing start to the year (6 goals in 3 games) he still has an impressive 9 goals as a freshman but is it not fair to argue that he's cooled off considerably? <a href="https://twitter.com/chrismpeters?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@chrismpeters</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/Habs?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#Habs</a></p>— Guy Flaming (@TPS_Guy) <a href="https://twitter.com/TPS_Guy/status/1198704164324265984?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">November 24, 2019</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

I dont think hes ready for the NHL. Hes gotta put on some muscle and get better along the boards.

Maybe work on some new breakaway moves too.

And hearing him throw Lebedeff under the bus is appalling.

Totally agree. Clearly he did that openly to appease/diffuse the chatter about average goaltending. He's the guy recruiting the goalies, he needs to throw himself under the bus. In reality he's really F'ed up the goaltending situation. He threw Jurusik under the bus when he brought in Hayton, then he ruined that guy. Meanwhile Jurusik has improved over time and is playing very well for Tech. In fairness to Jurusik he was an emergency recruit, and in some ways so was Lebedeff. The way they play in front of our goalies Cujo or Ritcher would look average. TG needs to look in the mirror as to why he has goaltending issues.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey 2019-2020: Time to Get Offensive

I was very impressed Friday with how well MN played without the puck. They blocked a ton of shots and had very active sticks in the passing lanes. I remember when UW played like that.

Most reactionary sports takes cool off after having some time to mull it over.

Mulling over TG ****ting on Lebedeff has only made me more frustrated with the coach.

I don't think I really understand the whole "Granato throwing Lebedeff under the bus" thing? Here's the quotes from Todd's article:

“I thought that was the big part of the game tonight, that we weren’t sharp enough in the D zone,” UW coach Tony Granato said. “We weren’t committed to it. When the game started, we thought it was going to be easy: Let’s hurry up and get out of the D zone and get going in the offensive zone.

“You can’t hurry up in the D zone. You do it right; the D zone ends and then you play in the offensive zone.”

And:

Granato said LaFontaine outplayed Lebedeff on Friday. He said senior goaltender Jack Berry will make his first start of the season on Saturday.

“I just think it’s time,” Granato said.

I didn't read that as throwing the Hammer under the bus, myself, (the part about Lebedeff is paraphrased by Todd, not a quote btw. I don't know exactly what Tony said surrounding that.) I thought of it more as "we played terrible defensively and we're going to do something different." More like when you yank a goalie in the second when he's getting shelled, often through no fault of his own, to send a message and try to shake the team up a little. Everybody thought LaFontaine was better Friday. Because he was, he was stellar.

Was there something else I missed, or are we just drawing the conclusions from this?

Re: Wisconsin Hockey 2019-2020: Time to Get Offensive

There were other quotes in previous weeks, Wisco. I will have to see if we can track them down.

His comments in the last few weeks have certainly not been kind to Lebedeff.

Moreover: the total lack of accountability for the drafted defensemen with only a passing interest in defending.

YES. Bench them. It's embarrassing watching lazy *** effort and/or utterly stupid plays by drafted players who think they'll be playing on the NHL in a year or 2. These guys won't make an ECHL roster if they play like this. I still think part of the problem is they feel they are entitled to success instead of earning it. They aren't earning it, they are mailing it in and screwing over their teammates and the fans. Miller specifically needs to sit. He's the worst offender yet he gets the most ice time.

Sounds like Sean Dhooghe needs to be the Captain. His words after Friday rang true.

I think TG's whole NHL factory montra is just creating all sorts of problems.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey 2019-2020: Time to Get Offensive

Something was up with at least one D on Saturday. Don't know who, or if it was injury related or something else, but Peltonen was on the line up sheet and was a game time scratch. No way they were going to play 7 D, so somebody was uncertain about being in the lineup.

Miller's poor play and not playing to expectations has been commented on by us all. I don't know what's up, but something is. Start the season with being suspended for unknown rule breaking, then get the killer virus and miss time then just play poorly most of the rest of the time. If you would have told me before the season we'd have nearly 50 goals and Miller would only have 4 assists.... that is crazy. Wonder what is really going on.
