I haven't seen the weekly press conference with Mike Eaves posted to the uwbadgers.com site. Maybe due to the holiday, there isn't one? I'm anxious to see how long Bennett is out.

UW typically only holds the press conference in weeks that the sport has a game. No Wisconsin Men's hockey this weekend - No Mike Eaves at the press conference.

:( Oh well. What's scary, though, is that we are one injury away from a walk on goalie in our net.

I hope that Matt Thurber earned some future PT with his solid weekend against UND. I like that kid a lot and hope that he can stay on the ice.

I hope so too. I've seen flashes of his offensive ability that made him a USHL all-star in 07/08, but Eaves never puts him in that role, very similar to the start of Tom Gorowsky's career.

Thurber is a solid defender though. W/ injuries and Stepan gone to the WJC, I'd hope he see action at the Showdown.

Re: WISCONSIN HOCKEY 09-10 - Climbing The Mountain (7th Edition?)

After doing some carefull studying last night watching the pens slap the flyers around, I realized that what ever line grotting is on which for most of the season has been with Lee and Street, they have struggled. Ben Street should be contributing more offensively then he his, Eaves has tried putting him with different players, namely putting Mitchell with him and Lee and that seemed to work better but I'm not sure what's going on with grotting this year. He is the only player on the roster in the minus. He has been great on the forecheck i guess and a physical presence but there is something to be said that who ever he plays with, they end up struggling. Lee has been with him most of the year and has 1 goal. I think grotting needs to go on the 4th line with Dolan and P. Johnson and produce energy because having him on a line with scorers is just not working, If street had the numbers we all thought he would have at this point I think you could move a couple of those losses over to the win column. Maybe I'm reading too much into grotting but he just doesn't seem like a good fit with Street. Maybe its time to move street to Wing and start Dolan and Turnbull during the showdown while stepan is gone. Its time to get Streeter going offensively.

Where does everybody else come out about Grotting...

Street just sat out a whole year. Give him some time to get the rust off and get the skills back in full order. That doesn't happen overnight.

With all do respect I think the rust is off by now, and i'm not putting this on Ben Street at all, i'm putting it on him being with Grotting and a freshman more then anything....

With all due respect, he's got 11 points, for an average of 0.611 a game. That's not too shabby by any stretch of the imagination.

I'm not even sure what your point is.

I guess my point is why is grotting on a scoring line???

Re: WISCONSIN HOCKEY 09-10 - Climbing The Mountain (7th Edition?)

And you made that point by saying that Street needs to get "going offensively".

If there's anything you can have confidence in Mike Eaves doing, it's juggling the lines when they need to be juggled.

i don't remember who the badger fan is that was upset that we were losing players to the WJC and called it a meaningless tournament but if you can watch our WJC team play north dakota this weekend, then you will get an idea of the level of hockey we are talking about. The WJC is a step or 2 above college hockey, there are guys on team canada who have played games in the NHL this year and last. And here is a list of the games that are on the NHL network. Note Dec 31st will be the game to watch in the 1st round. USA
