Re: WISCONSIN HOCKEY 09-10 - Climbing The Mountain (7th Edition?)

Can someone please explain to me how UND is ranked ahead of UW after Bucky takes 3 of 4 points at Grand Forks?

The polls mean nothing.
UND moved down 3 spots.
UW moved up 4 spots.
The polls mean nothing.

:)

Poles don't matter. You've been on USCHO long enough to know this. You also live close enough to Chicago to know it.

they were overrated to begin with so they can't drop that far down after one weekend. UW is ranked about where they should be UND and DU are too high but like they said, polls really don't matter that much but to say they don't matter at all is not correct. Sometimes teams play a little differently when they start to rise in the polls, i'm fine with UW being outside the top 5 FOR NOW..

Speaking of Elliott, he's not doing so well tonight. He's only stopped 20 of 23 shots and it's early in the 3rd period. Fark.

interesting....

Are those losses to Minnesota and michigan bothering anyone else still right now given the record of those two teams???

Not me, Minnesota=rivalry game, and we all know how those go, plus it was still early in the year. Michigan, well it's Michigan, they are better than their record, for whatever reason I think they are underachieving. .02

Re: WISCONSIN HOCKEY 09-10 - Climbing The Mountain (7th Edition?)

College hockey gets more respect from the New York Times than from the BTN.

The NYT shows more respect for College Hockey than the Milwaukee Journal...what a joke. Every year at least 2-3, maybe 4 times their sports section runs nice stories on the NCAA Hockey. I know the Sioux have been in there multiple times

now if we can just get the Chicago Trib and Sun-Times to follow suit:D

Re: WISCONSIN HOCKEY 09-10 - Climbing The Mountain (7th Edition?)

I have a question over this long break of hockey.

What Wisconsin born player has the most career NHL goals?

Does anyone have a list?

Also, which UW player has the most NHL goals?

Does anyone have list?

Re: WISCONSIN HOCKEY 09-10 - Climbing The Mountain (7th Edition?)

I would guess Gary Suter is the WI-born player with the most NHL goals...and I'm guessing it's not even close, unless I'm completely forgetting an obvious WI native (does Mark Johnson count? IIRC he wasn't BORN in WI :p). But he'll almost surely be overtaken by Kessel, Pavelski, and Drew Stafford if you are going simply by WI-born.

ETA: Had to cheat for the UW player part, figured it'd be Heatley or Tony Granato, completely forgot about Scott Mellanby. He had 364 according to Hockey DB, looks like Heatley is second at 281. So he'll clearly overtake him within the next couple years.

http://www.hockeydb.com/ is the best source I know of.

That'd be my guess as well.

I was thinking the same thing about Johnson. Where did he play hockey growing up?
