I
I've tried to project out our defensemen over the next few years. What do you guys think? In looking at our projected rosters, I

Senior-John Ramage*

I don't think Ramage makes it all the way to his senior year. Perhaps his Jr. year at max.

13,962 in attendance at the shootout tonight. Maybe a little nostalgia going on?

If you didn't see Yale tonight you will be in for a treat tomorow. Hope you guys are ready to skate!

No way were there that many there as the students weren't all there. That's probably the tickets sold amount.

I will say that there was a surprising number of folks in the third tier though. Was it a 4-pack night?

Crowd was morgue-like until the end when things got tight.

I have to say that I love the intro video heritage of Wisconsin hockey thing that they're doing now. They should bring some of those old teams/players/coaches back to honor them from time to time.

UW could certainly do more to honor the past and that video is a decent start.

We'll need to play better tomorrow and if we do, it should be a good game. Two top 10 teams battling for the final Badger Showdown title.

Yeah, I couldn't make it to the game so I was following the live blog on uwbadgers.com, the guy running the blog claimed the 13,962 number was actual attendance, not tickets sold. I didn't believe it either.

It was a single ticket night, that number also includes the 1500 people who left after the Yale - Ferris State Game.

Re: WISCONSIN HOCKEY 09-10 - Climbing The Mountain (7th Edition?)

Did anybody see the point where Craig Smith got hurt? I was at the game and didn't notice that he wasn't on the ice until a few minutes into the 3rd. I just read Baggot's article about it being an apparent arm injury.

I'm sure more info will come out in the next few days. Here's hoping it's nothing serious. He's gonna be important to our "O" down the stretch, especially if he can decide to stay out of the box.

I agree! Although I did not approve of them switching up and playing the intro after the badgers have entered the ice, that intro is pretty sweet.

I saw the second and third periods of the Yale game and I agree...they looked fast and strong. We better play one of our best games so far if we want to make it a good game tonight.

Junior year at max? I agree that Ramage has played above expectations this season, but I don't see him leaving THAT early. He MAY leave after his junior season, but no earlier. He's already been passed up in the NHL draft once.

Re: WISCONSIN HOCKEY 09-10 - Climbing The Mountain (7th Edition?)

Is it ever too early to look at PWR? With the win last night UW has moved up to #3. If the season ended today, the WCHA would have six teams in the NCAA tournament including 3 numeber 1 seeds.

I think the length of time he stays depends on who picks him up and what their needs are, but the fact that he made the World Jr Team speaks to his rapid development. He doesn't have the flash of Smith or McB, but a team wanting a dependable D for their 2nd or 3rd pairing would want him. If he develops a little more O, the quicker he is gone.
**************
I'll take the tie w/Yale considering Yale dominated the game according to the game tracker. I like that Goody has performed well in high pressure games, bodes well for the future. One has to assume the rotation will fire back up sooner than later.

Wisconsin Hockey: 1 piece of hardware in the trophy case, 3 more to go.

Re: WISCONSIN HOCKEY 09-10 - Climbing The Mountain (7th Edition?)

Yale is a good team. Our D looked out of sync tonight I think only having 5 D hurt. Playing with a new D partner every shift doesn't help...not familiar with how they play.

A long way to go obviously, but it sure would be terrific not to have to sweat it out and figure all of these crazy scenarios when we get to the end of February like we have the last 3 seasons.

Re: WISCONSIN HOCKEY 09-10 - Climbing The Mountain (7th Edition?)

Even though they gave up a late lead, I'm happy to come out of there with a tie. Yale controlled play for 45 of the 65 minutes. They pretty much dominated the first ten minutes and the last 25 minutes of the game. I'll take a tie there with a shorthanded squad against a very good team any day of the week. Yale impressed me a lot. They weren't the fastest guys, but their passes were always tic-tac-toe. The Badgers looked totally out of syn because of it.

Re: WISCONSIN HOCKEY 09-10 - Climbing The Mountain (7th Edition?)

wow. Yale outshot UW 42-22. *** happened? is Yale that much quicker than most opponents UW has faced?

Yale is a very disciplined team and UW came out flat, very flat.
