Wisconsin Badgers Off-Season '13

Re: Wisconsin Badgers Off-Season '13

Make it an overnight trip and entice her with an all-she-can spend day at the Mall of America. :)

"all she can spend day" hahaahahahaha! We've actually been to the MoA already (while on the way to Cody WY), it's a bit much. Plus I'd like to spend as little time in rodentsota as I have to....we had to brun a lot of clothes when we got back from the previously mentioned trip. :O

There should be plenty of other things for her to do if she isnt up for the hockey. Besides MOA, theres plenty of other shopping and dining to be found in the TC.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers Off-Season '13

UW wouldnt be foolish enough to schedule it on a Friday afternoon.
UW's past history with 2:00 Friday starts and Friday/Sunday split series doesn't demonstrate a lot of wisdom. Or maybe the athletic department could care less about Badger women's hockey fans, scheduling home series in Long Beach, Fort Myers, and Vail. Can't really blame the coach for wanting to get out of Madison, though. ;)

Re: Wisconsin Badgers Off-Season '13

Season tickets arrived (finally) in the mail today. Interesting in the notes included that tickets for Fill the Bowl will be sent out later and season ticket holders can purchase additional reserved 100 level seats prior to the general public. Tickets for the public go on sale October 16.

Only game time that's not set is Friday, December 6 against Bemidji State. Not to jinx it, but if it's a night game it'll be the first home schedule without a Friday 2:00 start that I can remember.

There was something kind of fun about going straight from class to Friday afternoon games, carrying my notebooks. I might just buy season tickets anyway.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers Off-Season '13

Just opened my season tickets too and was pretty disappointed to read that the Fill the Bowl will be reserved seating. It's not the worst thing in the world, but there really is no system in place to then request the seats I would like. I imagine I will get what they consider to be good seats (between the blue lines, somewhere in the middle rows) instead of where I like to sit (on the glass, behind the end line) - which is basically what happened with the LaBahn opener. Not the end of the world for one game, still not ideal. I'm also curious as to how they will deal with a student section, which has been pretty good in previous fill the bowls.

I also didn't notice at first glance that the Fill the Bowl game is going to be at 4pm. Odd to have it as a mid-afternoon game, when it has always been a 7pm start in the past. Can't imagine that will be good if they want to actually break the record, but I could be proven wrong.

I went ahead and bought season tickets. It turns out I could buy season tickets for 15 dollars and no fees. If I were to buy single game tickets, that's 3 dollars per game (because it's "convenient" to charge an extra dollar per ticket). Then there's a 4 dollar charge for the whole purchase. (That's what happens online, anyway.) So, yeah, I got that figured out.

I got mu season tickets yesterday and boy I was jacked up all night, I'm very excited.

Fill the bowl....The time is stupid. 4PM? ***? Are they hoping to increase concession sales by it at supper time? 2 steps forward, 1 step back.

The reserved seating is ok, though when I order I am going to request 200 level row 1 seats. They probably won't allow me to do that, but I'm going to try, if not I am going to ask for specific 100 level seats. I think they will be able to accommodate that. At least with reserved seating way I won't have a hard time getting 4 carloads of people seated together.

Do we know if it will be all reserved seating, or just portions of the arena?

The only advantage I can think of with the 4:00 start time is that it might be more family-friendly, especially for families with younger kids. Other than that, I'm surprised it's not at 7. The later start time didn't prevent huge crowds for the last couple of Fill the Bowls.

Also surprised that at least the lower bowl seems to be reserved and maybe the whole arena. Just seems like it would be a lot easier to be first-come, first-serve for seats. Again, that seemed to work in the past, unless there were a lot of complaints that I'm not aware of.

Like to think we should be higher, but there are definite question marks with regards to scoring.

I am OK with reserved seating. It makes it easier for people to show up closer to game time and still have their seat, rather than show up an hour ahead of time (which I do anyway). I wouldn't mind a few reserved sections in LaBahn.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers Off-Season '13

Now I just want to know if I'll be able to get my usual spot!

That comment might mean something if it had even a hint of truth to it. Considering how many mens' college hockey programs and NHL programs have tried to throw money at Mark Johnson to lure him out of Madison and he has turned them down every time because of how much he loves Madison (and he's from Minnesota, lets remember), not to mention the various Minnesota kids who choose to attend UW over Minnesota simply because its a better school (theres a reason why the crowd at the Kohl chants, "safety school" every time the rodents comes to town), Im just going to disregard that little comment.
