Wisconsin Badgers Off-Season '13

Re: Wisconsin Badgers Off-Season '13

The University of Wisconsin women’s hockey squad was picked to finished second in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association by the league’s coaches, it was announced Thursday.

The Badgers earned 42 points and a first-place vote in the preseason coaches poll, while Border Battle rival and two-time defending national champion Minnesota earned 49 points and seven first-place votes.
It would seem that those who know the Badgers best think theyre be quite a bit better than the rest of the league does.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers Off-Season '13

I think it's a fair spot for them to be picked at this point. If McKeough was able to come back and Pankowski not made the Olympic team, the case could have been made for pre-season favorite. However, that's not the reality of the situation. It will be very interesting to see where the scoring comes from or even what the lines will look like.

I just went to the ticket oak and got my season tickets! It's odd that we get a ticket for the free Japan game.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers Off-Season '13

.... but it's a joke that Madison hasn't hosted a WCHA/NCAA Frozen Four yet.

Why is that? How many have they applied for? I doubt it's a money making proposition....and Wisc AD seems to be mostly about the money than the experience of hosting.

The Japan national team made an appearance along side the women's hockey team at the football game today. Most people around me were confused - "Japan national team?!?" - but I brought them up to speed. :) They did the Wisconsin W with their hands, so that's pretty cool.

It's a joke whether they've applied every year for them and not been awarded or whether the UW has never tried to get them. The truth is probably somewhere in the middle, but doesn't change my mind that Madison is certainly the most deserving of a city that has never hosted. Wisconsin's 4 national titles and leading the nation in attendance speaks volumes.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers Off-Season '13

Hosting the Frozen Four requires a facility that is available for at least four consecutive days. That has likely been a problem with the Kohl Center.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers Off-Season '13

I thought I remembered reading something last year that a bid to host the 2015 NCAA Frozen four was shot down. But at least hosting a WCHA final four would be nice.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers Off-Season '13

The exhibition against team Japan is finally here! Any guesses of the attendance? 500? 700? 2273? :D

I say 500ish.

So do we cheer "USA! USA!" or "Let's Go RED!"? I think a chant of "self sealing fuel tanks" or "Marianas Turkey Shoot" would be kinda funny if there are any history buffs in attendance.

Best to stick with your "Sieve!" chant, IMO.

Nothing says, "Welcome," to a bunch of young women like linking them to a fascist government that hasn't existed for almost seventy years.
