Wisconsin Badgers 2020-2021

It is a great day for hockey!
Let's go RED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The UW twitter feed has line charts up for both teams, and the four forwards who 'disappeared' from the Providence lineup during February and their tournament are listed. But only one is listed in the first three forward lines, the others are 4th line or 'extra skater'. They still have two players who are listed on their website as 'defensemen' who are playing wings on the third line.

A couple 'notes' mentioned by Reid Magnum on the Badger radio broadcast:

- Seventh straight Final Four appearance, the most ever for a women's hockey team (with the 2020 asterisk, of course)

- Fifth straight NCAA quarterfinal shutout for Wisconsin; last goal given up to BU in 2015 (UW 5-1 win)

- fourth straight NCAA shutout for UW; Campbell's three in 2019, and today. The last goal was the OT goal that gave Colgate the semi-final win in 2018.

All those words defending your team's now very appropriate non-inclusion in the tourney and you go and vaporize Bucky!? The lads will vaporize Goldy tonight.

I am so nervous I think I am going to puke.
What kind of thinner are you taking? It should have a calming effect. Try doubling the dosage.

The Big Ten race was so close that there were two ways to do the standings with uneven numbers of games, regular win percent and percent of standings points won; that is, a tie is a half-win vs the tie being one-third or two-thirds a win, depending on shootout, etc. The Big Ten did 'win percent' and Wisconsin came out on top. If they had chosen 'standings points percent', Minnesota would have been the conference champs.

Tonight is a complete coin flip.

I only thinner to wash away the bad thoughts. I was looking at it during the 2nd period when Providence had UM players in their uniforms. I was a little apprehensive.

Minnesota WCHA game, two goals for the third line; for Ohio State, three (?) for the second line; today three for the first line. It's all good.

Yeah I have been railing on the 1st line and they carried the whole load LOL. Providence packing it in during the first period actually suppressed the quality chances. Once it opened up UW had some great transition chances but their goalie was great. Of course then they got some chances on UW in the O zone as well. I was just fearful of one of those seeing eye bounce, deflect clunker goals.

Well we get the rematch, surprise surprise right?

I was hoping to avoid the OSU matchup, and there was a glimmer of hope after 1, but BC never really had a chance once Muzzy lite a fire between the first and second period.

This game is a toss-up. A big key to the game is faceoffs. The last game UW overcame a HUGE faceoff deficit to OSU and won. UW must get the won/lost ratio to at least 50/50. You burn a lot of extra energy trying to just get the puck then, and then when you do get it your are gassed and can't do anything with it.

Sadly, I will be traveling from probably 5-7:30 Thursday and will be ending up in a hotel in LaCrosse, which will probably not have ESPNU so I can watch the end. I will be dvring it, thankfully it's not on ESPN3. I will be hanging on every word coming out of Reid's mouth. Hopefully Greeny will be in the booth with him. I will be home Saturday night for the game with NE.

Reid is in Madison doing the games remotely, because of COVID. Greeny is with the team in Erie. (And do I remember hearing Reid say that Brian Posick would be doing Thursday's game?)
