There's an article in the Wi State Journal posted just this afternoon that gives some background of how the Badger players found out that they were (and were not) selected to 'centralize' for the
National/Olympic team. And it is interesting and all.
But the news, as far as I (and Tim and others here will be concerned) comes at the end:
"Curl said she'll leave the Badgers for a season with faith in the players that are on the team.
"We still have a great group of leadership that just came off national championships," she said of fifth-year seniors Brette Pettet, Grace Bowlby and Caitlin Schneider. "They obviously know how things are done. ... Just seeing some of the freshmen skating this summer, I think it's going to be a really exciting year for them."
That is to say, Britta Curl (or maybe Tim Milewski) sure is under the impression that Grace Bowlby is using her bonus COVID year and will be playing the season at Wisconsin! YAY!!
(Not to mention further confirmation on Pettet and Schneider playing.)

Could we start a rumor that Amanda Kessel is coming back to Minnesota? Just to get Timothy wound up?
Watts, SS, GS, O'Brien, Webster, Wheeler, Picard, Wozniewicz. Pettet and Schneider....10 confirmed F's. Yikes. Normally MJ only rolls 3 lines against the top teams so it's not a gigantic concern, but you never know on injuries. Too bad Greig and DeVito didn't stick around. The following year there are only 11 F's on the roster, so they has an opportunity play this year and compete for playing next year.
So just so I understand, when Eden comes back in 2022/2023, she will be a Fr, correct?
Bowlby, LaMantia, Nealy, Edwards, Kotlowski, Toft and Helgeson. 7 confirmed D. Can one, maybe 2 pull a Rowe and play F?
I don't think we have heard anything definite on Maddie Posick and her decision on her COVID year. So that could be one more forward. And you left out Delaney Drake, who last I heard was coming back to play. So with Posick and Drake, you'd have 12 forwards.
I took from the article since Posick and Drake were not mentioned as playing next year that they were not. Being honest, if you were those 2 who were historically 4th liners WOULD you want to come back (if you had less than a full yr of courses to take for your degree) or just get on with your life? Worst case is the transfer portal is there, but we are mid July already and I don't know what the enrollment cutoff date is to transfer and still get admitted into school for the fall. We may not know, but I'm 100% sure MJ knows and has planned accordingly. I have this feeling we won't know until September.

As for "historically 4th liners"... huh? While I will grant you that Delaney Drake is not the most dynamic 2nd line center UW has ever had, Delaney Drake centered the second line last season. Guessing at lines for this year, with Pettet around to center the first line, and the whole third line - Schneider-Webster-O'Brian - intact and likely to 'move up' to a second line designation, my guess would be Drake centers a newly constructed third line.
Just when we thought it was safe....Grace & Sophie Shirley are invited to the Canadian Camp, along with Wozniewicz. I am baffled that Grace has not cracked the UW top 3 lines line-up but is invited to this camp. Also shocked Watts is not invited.
I think that’s not Olympics centralization related. Just a summer camp. So you will enjoy the embarrassment of riches that you always do, don’t worry. It is strange about Watts.
If one of the 3 knocks the coaches socks off, could they get invited to the National team or are they locked in?
I supposed nothing is ever 'set in stone', but this seems like as close as it gets. https://www.hockeycanada.ca/en-ca/news/2021-22-centralization-roster-named
The rodentettes are SO far gone that not even Ms Kessel can save you now. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
