Wisconsin Badgers 2015-2016

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2015-2016

I do plan on watching the 2nd and 3rd period of the MN Clarkson Championship game...I got curious after the first period when I saw BC Harvard game from last year listed. I wanted to see if "THE" goal in the 3rd period was really as bad as I thought...it was. still hurts.

Those slightly-slower-than-you-think pucks from around the blue line that slip through the five hole are the worst. I saw a goal like that at a U10 tournament that came from the *far* blue line, if it helps you feel better :-)

I still remember Katie skating on her own on the ice at the end of the game after everyone else had gone back to the locker room. That was rough.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2015-2016

JS Online has a front/main page article on the web of the team with interviews with ARD, Nurse and MJ. Pretty awesome seeing the gals get some love from the Milwaukee area. How about a series at the BC in the future?

It was supposed to be for 7netminder...I posted it in the wrong post.
I noticed I did it after it posted so I went back and edited it to state "to whomever..."
sorry

I would happily wear red and white if I didn't already wear better colors :)

I certainly expect people to hiss and boo gophers when playing against them. It is part of the fun of being a fan and the players I know don't mind as long as it does not devolve into cursing or degrading. I also don't do that at away games because that is their house. And I never do the black hole cheer either but that is personal, I would have eaten up if done for me.

Years ago there was a goalie for either Denver or CC that would egg the crowds on at mens games. He would have been my role model.

I don't remember the last donut I had, powdered or otherwise. It has to be more than 5 years ago at least. I did have a brat last summer but no hot dogs. My mom has been dead for 10 years and I or mrs minder have washed our hockey sweaters as needed for the last45 years. So a miss on all those

Series news/notes/video for the Minnesota series.

Had you told me in the fall that the Gophers would be 22-3-1 going into this series and the conference title was already determined, I never would have guessed it would be anyone else but them. That's how little room for error there is for the WCHA title.

Still plenty to play for though. Even with the title in hand, nobody on the Badger roster has won a game at Ridder.

As I said prior to first series, I think that 3 goals is the magic number for both teams. As good as the Badger defense & Desbiens are playing, it's not realistic to expect to win a 1-0 or even a 2-1 game, especially on the road.

Not able to make the trip up this weekend, but glad that the Saturday game is on Big Ten Network.

The last game I watched at Ridder finished 0-0, so I'd say that 2-1 is more likely than any other final.

I'll give you that with the 0-0 game with North Dakota and a lot of recent Gopher/Badgers are around 2-1. With that said, I will have no comfort level if Wisconsin only scores 2 goals in any game this weekend. Still gun-shy over the last few years of Minnesota scoring in bunches.

Here is the link for that article. I don't follow JS Online closely at all, but I can't imagine they have had a lot of women's hockey coverage over the years. Nice to see.

I'm trying to remember if I've ever had comfort in a game with Wisconsin during the Mark Johnson era. Given Wisconsin allows 2 goals so rarely, and the Badgers never got to 2 last season against UM, I think you'll be okay if you get 2. That's essentially all you got in regulation in Madison, and you won both.

They never cover the women and barely cover the men. Lori Nickel does a very nice job with the in depth article for their sports page.

I'm thinking 1 goal games for this weekend, it's a coin flip. I've never felt comfy when playing the rodents, though the Vetter/Duggan/Knight combo gave a person a lot of confidence. I'm not there yet with this group of Badgers. I still think UM has more talent overall (look at the scoring stats for the wcha), but ARD is the great equalizer. UM gets the last line change, what a fascinating aspect that will be. I don't see UW's 4th line getting much ice time since MJ can't dictate the match ups.

I'm hoping for two 10-9 games won by MN

With Kessel in the mix Rodents will take both games. UW's 4th line might as well sit in the stands. They only got on the ice last weekend against the Maverick's late in the 3rd with a 5 goal lead.

Technically, 2/3 of the 4th line started the game (and played a little more than just garbage time), but I get your point. 4th line doesn't play much against the top teams, but are all 4th year players and could definitely go out there in a pinch. Obviously, not an ideal situation.

I thought that was odd. Very unusual for this season. Maybe trying to get the other line "used to" the workload of the extra shifts?

I happened to be sitting next to the mother of one of the 4th line skaters for about the 2nd half of the game Sunday, and near the start of the 3rd period I mentioned it to her. She said it was unfortunate on Senior Day, etc, but with the WCHA title on the line (as it still was at that point) you have to keep the big picture in mind, etc. (Of course, she's also the coach's wife, so "big picture" might be easier for her :-) )

Sinuhe Wallinheimo. I was in the Gopher men's hockey band when "Wally" was playing. Good times.

Whatever happened to him - pasta, I enjoyed his attitude! You know you are playing well when the other fans start to try to get on you so you should egg them on.
