Wisconsin Badgers 2015-2016

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2015-2016

I think Abby Roque will be slotted in as the third line center. That is her natural position and she has experience playing with both Wellhausen and Shaver. 2 years ago she was on the same line with Wellhausen on the USA U-18 team at the Worlds in Budapest and she played with Shaver the following year at the 2015 U-18 Worlds.. I saw her play a bit this past season and she is a very similar player to Sowchuck. Very solid, responsible player that will fit in great with those 2 speedy wings. Seems to be a good fit!

What kind of speed does Roque have?

Good point pokechecker on the faceoffs & McKibbon.

Nurse did lead the team in shots with McKibbon as her center, so it's not all bad.

Roque has more than average speed.. Like I said earlier, very similar to Sowchuck.

FYI - Top 5 returning players with the most shots:

Nurse - 228 shots, 25 goals
Pankowski- 178 shots, 22 goals
Clark - 165 shots, 24 goals
Wellhausen - 120 shots, 9 goals
McKibbon - 112 shots, 9 goals

It will be interesting to see how much Cece or Baldwin put a dent into ARD's icetime next year. I can't believe she's a senior next year. How sad. Still shooting for a 2018 ARD vs Rigbsy game or 2 in the Olympics. ARD is making it hard to hate Canada so much.

As does Clark, Turnbull, Mikkelson, McLeod etc. I do hope several Badgers make Team Canada in 2018 (and do well individually), though will still be cheering for Team USA to get that elusive gold.

I agree, but I am more than a bit goalie-centric. It's my favorite position to play, my sons played goalie (hockey and soccer), I just love that position. Gotta root for team USA. It would be easier for me mentally if ARD didn't ever play in the Olympics, but she's a Badger and I want nothing less than all of them to wildly succeed on the international level. I better get used to the idea of UW goalies playing for Team Canada with Cece coming on board or even Russia (Baldwin has dual citizenship). I think MJ better find a US goalie to follow Rigsby at some point.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2015-2016

2016-2017 schedule announced today.

And there's one glaring 'problem' weekend that the I-hate-Friday-afternoon people might *really* not like.

The weekend of Dec 2,3,4, the UW men's hockey team has a Friday-Saturday series at the Kohl Center against Nebraska-Omaha, while the UW women are at LaBahn against... the Minnesota Golden Gophers!

(And the volleyball team - we hope - will be hosting first round NCAA matches either Dec 1 and 2, or Dec 2 or 3 at the Field House, AND there's at least the possibility that the football team would be playing in the Big Ten Championship game the evening of Dec 3rd.)

So women's hockey pretty much has to be two afternoon games. Whether one will be on Friday or not....

(The weekend of Nov 4-6 also has both hockey teams home - women vs Bemidji, men vs Northern Mich - as well as home volleyball. After Xmas can't be 'analyzed' for potential Fri afternoon games because men's Big Ten schedule not announced yet.)

But the Gopher games relegated to afternoon games!?! Somebody screwed up!

A rodent Friday afternoon game would be a travesty, but so would a Sunday afternoon game. The rodent games should be prime time games. I also don't like closing at the rodents again. They should be coming here. Too bad they couldn't swap the home/away weekends.

I like the n/c slate...Clarkson, Cornell and Lindenwood.

I would love to know how the WCHA makes some of these choices. Certainly ending the season with the two teams most likely to be fighting for #1 in the league makes sense but it is odd they would have the same home team 2 years in a row. Then there is the deal with 'double booking'. I am sure it becomes very difficult when calculating in the B16 men's schedule but afternoon games between these two teams should be something they put extra effort into preventing. These are games that should be on TV, at least the B16 network.

Congrats to the following UW Badger Women Hockey Players for being named to the Big 10 All-Academic Team: Kim Drake, Syd McKibbon, Megan Miller, Annie Pankowski, Jenny Ryan, Baylee Wellhausen, and Lauren Williams.. Quite an honor --They should be proud!

As well they should! Also to Sydney Baldwin, Hannah Brandt, Dani Cameranesi, Kelsey Cline, Paige Haley, Amanda Kessel, Amanda Leveille, Kelly Pannek, Sidney Peters, Cara Piazza, Nine Rodgers, Kate Schipper, Lee Stecklein and Megan Wolfe. Nice that two great teams can also have so many great students

Even nicer that Minnesota has twice as many as Wisconsin! And nicer still that Minnesota won the NCAA title with all those brainy student athletes!

Hopefully UW's players didn't read this. They are going to be a juggernaut out for blood this year.

It's really in bad taste to post this in the UW thread. What do you want, a bloodbath? Well, your gonna get it! It will be amazing to have all 3 P Katz finalists being WI players.

makes me think back to 2013 when they raised the banner in Ridder in front of the Badgers

they came out and handed the Gophers their rear ends for two periods

... everyone that is except for Leveille, Gophers won 2-1

:)
