Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2014-2015

I am convinced that you guys are completely making this stuff up just to mess with those of us on the east coast.

Which part? I was very surprised by the big crowd. They might be getting some fans of the men's team that are getting completely fed up by what they are seeing over at Kohl Center.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2014-2015

What Badger Booster stated is not made up at all! I was at both games this past weekend at LaBahn Arena and the crowd Sunday was huge! There were no open seats and there was standing room only fans behind the last row of seats! The people of Madison and the state of Wisconsin in general really support this program!

BB, I think you may be on to something here. I have read that the attendance for the men's team is down.

Yes, Sunday was a big, big crowd. And yes, the lines at the concession window was really backed up. Usually between periods, I'll make two laps around the concourse (it used to be one lap around the Kohl Center, but that's a longer walk), but getting through the crowds on Sunday made a second lap not worth the effort. How crowded the concourse gets is a good indicator for the overall crowd size, and Sunday was as crowded as I remember (with maybe LaBahn's 'opening night' being the equal).

As far as reserved seating for NCAAs; last year against Harvard was 'assigned seats' and a sell-out.

I went to one men's game this year and the Badgers got crushed by Michigan Tech 8-1. Have no interest going back again this year. Plus, what I spent in tickets/parking that one night is about the same as I will spend all season for the women's games. Better product at a better price.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2014-2015

Too bad UW doesn't have the ability to ask the fans on a packed day like Sunday to squeeze together a tad to open up more seats to sit in. I'd bet a hundred more could have sat if they asked the crowd to skooch together. We got there at noon and had to split the 4 of us up. I will admit it was less fun not sitting with my sons.

I'm not convinced the bad men's program is helping the women's attendance. The gals generally drew 2000 when the guys were pretty good last year. I hear newbies around me at almost every game, they usually have young kids. There was a couple next to me that were at their first gal's game and they said it's not as fun without the band. Of course we all agree with that. Too bad they can't do the Kohl Center for the NCAA game with the full band, but that may prove a disadvantage to the players being on the bigger ice sheet for the first time.

I did order the wcha first round tix tonight.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2014-2015

It's been nice to see the sellouts this year have full crowds similar to Sunday. There are a lot fewer people eating tickets. (Could it be because this year's sellouts have occurred with the walk-up crowds rather than advanced sales?)

The part where you have more than 200 people showing up for your games.

PIX OR IT DIDN'T HAPPEN. And there had better be ponytails under the helmets in any pictures you show.

The pics on Twitter Sunday we're good enough?

When we got there at noon, there was still a line of people buying tickets.

It's a Great Day for Hockey! Looking forward to getting our "normal" seats this weekend and seeing some fast paced, well reffed hockey.
