Re: WISC @ NoDak 2/1&2/2
It took 8 minutes. What was the over/under, Gurt.
Soon as I saw that baby, I thought you'd have to cut the line if you wanted to throw him back.
No, I'm not getting him. He's not biting on what I'm throwing out there.
Funny side though, I was watching Slap Shot with my kid last night and the scene with Reg and McGrath came on where they're, well, here's the lines from it:
Reggie Dunlop: And remember I went up to your room afterwards and you were dressed in chick's clothes? Yeah, you had on this black bra with tassels! You were dancing in front of a mirror with this kinda zebra skin jockstrap.
McGrath: *****!
Reggie Dunlop: Remember how I screamed at you when you started coming on to me? And I just said 'Jesus stop it Joe, I'm ashamed of you!'
McGrath: God**** you.
Reggie Dunlop: I wanted to tell you I forgot the whole thing. Years have passed, now I'm sexually liberated. I don't care who's a (censored) no more. I mean who cares? It's natural, it's all around us.
Reggie Dunlop: Who's the owner Joe?
Little known fact is that scene was inspired by an actual conversation between Herb Brooks and John Marriucci that took place in 1976 when Brooks had to pay a visit to Mariucci over an ongoing dispute. As quoted in
Herb Brooks : The Inside Story of a Hockey Mastermind, it went like this:
Brooks: And remember I went up to your room afterwards and you were dressed in chick's clothes? Yeah, you had on this maroon bra with gold tassels! You were dancing in front of a mirror with this kinda gold sparkly jockstrap.
Mariucci: *****!
Brooks: Remember how I screamed at you when you started coming on to me? And I just said 'Jesus stop it John, I'm ashamed of you!'
Mariucci: God**** you.
Brooks: I wanted to tell you I forgot the whole thing. Years have passed, now I'm sexually liberated. I don't care who's a (censored) or into weird stuff no more. I mean who cares? It's all around us in this god-forsaken hell-hole of a state.
-pause-
Brooks: Where's the goat and hair gel John?
I love how movies take stuff like that as inspiration. It makes the movie feel more authentic somehow, even without knowing at the time of viewing that it's based on real events.
