Re: Who will be the 7th member of the Big Ten Hockey Conference?
Was just checking in on the progress of the new Pinnacle Bank Arena in Nebraska. It's slotted for the basketball team but I've heard on and off that it may have ice making capabilities. I found this article and couldn't help but smile when I read it.
Lincoln's Pinnacle Bank Arena proceeding as planned
Caldwell is the Hampton Construction President, so that statement might be more of a teaser if it was their AD, but still. I like the plan. No plans for hockey now, but why would you put in a new stadium in the Big 10 and not plan for that contingency. Wikipedia lists it as seating 12,700 for hockey.
Not as far along is the Breslow Ice Arena, which will be a 1,500 seat ice arena designated for the ACHA team.

The north end of the bowl will remain open, but already is configured for possible expansion by about 2,000 seats. Also, piping has been installed under the floor to allow for the making of ice if there ever is a hockey tenant.
“You don’t have to put in everything now,” Caldwell said, “but you have to be ready for the future.”
