Who is in your Deadpool for Solo: Infinity War

Re: Who is in your Deadpool for Solo: Infinity War

Watched Deadpool on the plane Monday night. For all the hype, it was just decent. I love a good spoof, and I guess I expected a lot more "smart" humor. Or maybe it's just my inner aversion to most comic book films.

Watched the BBC version of Sweeney Todd two nights ago. Much better than the Depp/Bonham Carter version.

Deadpool wasn't going for smart, as smart humor goes. It was going for smarter, but still dcik/fart jokes, as relating to other movies/genres. Juvenile satire, I suppose.

I saw Halloween...it was very very good! If you like the original make a point of seeing this because it is a proper sequel. I like the rest of the films but I LOVE the original and this is right behind it in quality.

That's what I've been hearing. I do want to see this. The original Halloween is darn near a perfect horror movie. Shadows, suspense, a touch of killing but not over the top gore, etc.

The First Purge:

I saw the first one in this series, skipped the other 2, heard this was okay. The first one was such a waste of potential it made me sick. This one, while better than the first, still was not good, only because it had the subtlety of 5 bricks to the face on what it was really about. The Purge, as in basic plot, should be about personal morality only, IMO. This movie was pure politics with morality as a mask. I liked this movie better when it was called "V For Vendetta." ;)

Bad Times at the El Royale...GOOD GOD WHAT AN AWFUL PIECE OF CRAP THAT WAS!!! It wanted to be soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo clever...it wasnt. Totally wasted some great performances on a story that was so stupid and ridiculous (not to mention pretty dang obvious) that even telling the stories separately and trying to weave them all together didnt save it. This is like film school wannabes version of Pulp Fiction only as a period piece and without any real purpose.

Saw it for free...still paid too much.

I'll still see it. I expect half-Identity, half-Pulp/Tarantino. And half-done. Not expecting much, but am curious.

Re: Who is in your Deadpool for Solo: Infinity War

Identity was way more clever than this that is for sure.

Ocean's 8:

While I didn't have high hopes going into yet another remake from Hollywood, this was a flat out entertaining movie. If you liked the Clooney/Pitt banter in the first remake, you'll love this. The banter is on steroids. You also get the standard twists and turns associated with a movie like this, the "how did they pull that off" aspects, etc. Very much worth a view, IMO.

Is there any scenes with two of them pairing off the badmouth the other six?

You've convinced me. I loved the first film, so why not?

The sequels are popcorn crap, but whatever.

Geez, I'd have to look back, IIRC the first sequel was okay, then it went downhill quickly. Vincent Cassel was basically the only shining moment (which led me to explore his non-US movies, and most are good).

But yeah, Ocean's 8 is worth the time, easily. I was pleasantly surprised.

Oceans 12 was crap.

Oceans 13 was fun, but ultimately crap. Especially Al Pacino's "I'm da bad guy, I'm soooooo baaddd, I'm da Donald Trump of dis film" shtick.

The Pacino one was pure crap. I regret wasting my time with that.

Re: Who is in your Deadpool for Solo: Infinity War

13 was fine, more like 11. 12 was total crap and the whole plot ended up being pointless.

Yup, I agree. And 13 was the one that had Pacino as a cartoon villain. Not to mention the drilling machine that was detected by no one. :D

It was crap, but in a good way.

Re: Who is in your Deadpool for Solo: Infinity War

Oceans 8 is good. If Soderbergh had directed it it would have been as good as 11. As is it is probably 1 step below but still fun as heck. Cate Blanchett as the "Rusty" style character was genius and the cameos are excellent.

As for the Cloony films...11 is by far the best. Half of 12 is good and 13 is 3/4 a good film. I like the Pacino cartoon villain because that is what he is supposed to be, a full on cartoony Vegas style mobster villain. He isnt as good as Terry Benedict...but he is hilarious in the way Joe Pesci is sometimes hilarious. (no not the Goodfellas Joe Pesci I mean more Lethal Weapon Joe Pesci)

Re: Who is in your Deadpool for Solo: Infinity War

Halloween. I saw the original in the theaters even though I was only 10 as my older brother got me in. I also saw 2, 3 (SOTW) and H20 in the theater and missed (and I think missing nothing) everything else including the Zombie remakes.

H2 was fine, SOTW was awful and H20 was decent but ultimately fell flat.

Halloween is easily for me the 2nd best film in the franchise after the original. It was definitely more stabby (I guess is that's what kids want these days) but still suspenseful with some comedic touches in the right places. It was a proper follow-up and in many ways felt like it could have been made in 1977 for all the right reasons.

Re: Who is in your Deadpool for Solo: Infinity War

Watched 8 on a flight this week. Didn’t like and really wanted to. Like the actresses and just couldn’t get there.

Also saw

Solo - ok
Tag - liked it. Love the cast singing ******** stupid in the closing credits
Chapaquidick - good. The joe Kennedy character was downright awesome

Couple more that mookie can’t remember (so they were that good :) )

As for 8, forgot to mention that Sarah Paulson was NOT annoying AF. That surprised me.

The other 3 you mentioned in your post, I am waiting on. It's House Of Cards release week, so re-watching last season. I think it's last season. Either that, or I'm watching CNN. ;)
