One new song I'm liking is Chris Young's new one, Save Water, Drink Beer. Downloaded it yesterday.

Just got Zeppelin 12-5-07, the final rehearsal before their reunion show. This is a run straight through the setlist as if they were actually playing the show.

So unbelievably good to hear them play music together again. Sound pretty tight too.

I haven't heard the actual show, but thought that reviews were mixed. Can't imagine why anyone would have had a problem with this.

Wish they'd tour.

Hey guys! If you're worried about appearing greedy, don't be. We WANT to give you our money!

Listening to some Robert Plant today...

This morning I did the King Biscuit Flower Hour that was pulled from his 1983 solo tour. I think I had this on a cassette back in the day. Haven't heard it in maybe 25 years and it's a lot better than I remember. Really good stuff - his band could rip and had Phil Collins on drums.

Now listening to a Band of Joy show from Winnipeg Jazz Fest last Summer. Didn't really get into the studio album much, but hearing it live is a revelation. OUTSTANDING!

Just bought a new iPod Shuffle, and set it to Autofill. Apparently I'm going to be listening to lots of Radiohead (Amnesiac, OK Computer, Kid A, and In Rainbows), the Beatles (Sgt Pepper), and Amy Winehouse (Back to Black).

And for running, Sgt. Pepper works. I just wish my iPod would stop playing "A Day In The Life" every time I head out the door!

When my 160gb Classic resets, it always starts with A.D. 1928 from the Styx album, Paradise Theater.

Many mornings in the driveway are started with... "Tonight's the night, we'll make history..." :D

Re: What's on your Playlist? USCHO Music Thread

Listened to all of my Chemical Brothers albums (7 I think?) from last night through this morning. Good music to build shelves at home to (last night) and hit a deadline to (this morning).

Now doing Zeppelin - How the West Was Won. The acoustic numbers from this period of Zeppelin were just stunningly amazing. Too bad there wasn't MTV Unplugged back then as I'd love to hear a whole show of this stuff rather than just the 3 or 4 that they did at each show back then. "Going to California" from this album is perfection.

Listening to Neil Diamond "Hot August Night" this morning. Mom and I didn't share much of the same interests musically, but she got me to love Neil Diamond.

Had to turn on a little king of HEE-HEE er pop.

Just picked up Bon Iver For Emma, Forever Ago. Perhaps I shouldn't be due to Pandora and 89.3 The Current, but I'm surprised by how many songs I already knew. I also bought Loop Heaven's End and My Bloody Valentine Loveless. Loop is a band I had never heard before Pandora and while they've been done long ago they are fantastic imho. Think Spacemen 3, Ultra Vivid Scene, Black Angels and Spirtualized.

I would love to see Radiohead live, but I would spend the entire show wanting to punch Thom Yorke in the face.

I've never understood why people get excited for that band. They have about three, maybe four, songs that I like. Beyond that, listening to them is like taking a lunesta.

When they began to gravitate away from the sound of The Bends (brilliant record) toward more experimental music I was initially excited by it, then became bored (by the time of Amnesiac), while more recently have felt rejuvenated about them. It's definitely an acquired taste imho, but if you take one of the newer records and give it a full listen start-to-finish a couple times it becomes more apparent (at least it did for me) what they are doing. But I get your point.

(btw in case you were wondering, my comment about Yorke is I can't stand watching him but I enjoy the music ;))

You are probably right about that and maybe I could get over it while watching. :)

Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush - Real Live

To call his guitar playing incendiary would be a grave understatement. My speakers are melting...

Re: What's on your Playlist? USCHO Music Thread

Doing some Big Star this morning. :)

More people should know about these guys. I know that a lot of musicians credit Big Star as a big influence, but the general listening public has never heard of them.
