Re: What team ends the Minnesota winning streak?

ARM, you know you're my boy... but you're killing me here.
Did I say tired or fatigued? No, you did. I said they didn't have good legs early, and it looked to me like they didn't.
So, fatigued?
When I spoke to the team earlier in the week...
Yeah, earlier in the week, not a week later
...I heard comments like, "It felt like I got hit by a train."
Bro, that's fatigued.
Given you can't even add the number of nights between Saturday and Friday correctly :p I am going to put more stock in what they said at the time than what you say now.
Sorry. I didn't look at what days the games were played. 6 nights vs. 7 nights, it was the next week.

As for fatigue, I thought there were BC players that looked fatigued late in the semi, Bolden in particular. Maybe she'd been asked to skate too many shifts down the stretch and it all caught up with her, I don't know. It's not an excuse. Team's have so much energy to burn over the course of the season and they make countless choices about how they are going to expend it.
So BC was also fatigued, which therefore begs the question of why you are using the 3OT ND game from a week prior as an excuse for needing OT to beat BC. Because that's exactly what you're doing if you're specifically pointing out that game as a 'factor' in why BC took UM to OT.

But if you want to debate it, stick to statements I've made and some semblance of facts, like now many days it is from Saturday to Friday.
I assume you're being a bit tongue-in-cheek here in (twice) using against me the fact that there were 6 days between the games rather than 7. In which case, I give you a well-deserved chuckle. ;)

Re: What team ends the Minnesota winning streak?

Almost seems as though there is some pressure building among fans following the streak. ;)

With regards to streak related pressure.

Re: What team ends the Minnesota winning streak?

The two of us in Lake Placid last Saturday were glued to our respective communication devices, following along with the game in St. Cloud between Four Nations contests. It was pretty nerve-wracking.

No. I hear this from players on various teams all the time. "We didn't have good legs." or "We didn't have the jump." Sometimes they are referring to the first period of the first game of the weekend, and they then are fine after that. I've always thought it was more of couldn't get warmed up or couldn't get loose. Most athletes in any sport have good days and bad days, and they don't always know why.

Go back and look at how this started; it isn't about BC or why the game went to OT. It is about why Minnesota didn't look as good as they looked at various other times in the season, or even the same game. I agree that BC played very well. Maybe the Eagles got Minnesota back on its heels. I don't know. It's all about whether Minnesota was tight, to what degree, and if so, why.

As for me killing you, sometimes you act like the biggest doofus troll on the planet, and the next minute you can get all righteous, and we are supposed to figure out which is which. So when you claim you don't know what "good legs" is, do you really not know, or are you just trolling again, ha ha, joke is on me. And I'm killing you. :(

Re: What team ends the Minnesota winning streak?

Dear Gopher Women's Hockey Team,

Please go out there and prove me wrong in your Sunday game vs. UND, and make my ill-advised prediction in this stupid poll not come true.

Thank you, and good luck.

North Dakota wins!

This is one of those times where I hate to be right. Hats off to the girls from UND though, they are not to be discredited!

Re: What team ends the Minnesota winning streak?

Thanks for the ride Gophers!! Many thanks for allowing this fan to witness something truly remarkable the likes of which I don't expect to witness again in my time. You have set the bar incredibly high. An NCAA record you own. As I expect you will for a very long time.

Re: What team ends the Minnesota winning streak?

you'd have thought the Gophers had won
by the standing ovation after the game
no, we're just appreciative of their achievement
couldn't be prouder
they outplayed them 5 of 6 periods
spotting another team 3 goals
especially a good one
is always a tough hill to climb

Give credit to North Dakota for coming out and dominating the Gophers in the first period. I don't recall exactly at what point the Gophers got their first shot on goal, but it took a very long time. Meanwhile, UND not only created and took advantage of their offensive opportunities but they played stifling defense, not allowing the home team practically any time and space whatsoever. Also have to give credit to their coaches for setting up a great game plan.

That said, it looked like two different teams out there for most of the second and third periods. UND got away from their game plan and for much of the time they were on their heels, as the Gophers began to win the majority of the faceoffs and battles for the puck all over the ice. After getting back in it at 2-3 they had SO many great chances to get the equalizer, but the puck simply refused to go in. I guess after 62 straight a stretch like that was bound to happen. The Gophers just dug themselves too big a hole from which they couldn't quite climb out of.

The big question now is how will they respond going forward? We'll get a glimpse of that this weekend when they travel to New Haven, Connecticut.

I'll give NoDak credit for taking advantage of the mistakes the Gophers made in front of their own goal.
Dominate the first period? you must have been at a different game
judging the Gophers by their shots on goal, ... is this your first game you've watched them?
sometimes I wish they'd shoot more
but you can't argue with their success

they dug themselves a big hole indeed
I'm sure NoDak is proud of their win
yet, I have a feeling they feel lucky to leave town with the win
considering the way the Gophers played the final two periods
sure the Nameless ones had a few good shifts the last two periods ....

Are you for real?

Time to take off the maroon and gold glasses.

I vote pokecheker troll of the year. Being up 3-0 and giving up close to no shots in the first 13 minutes is dominating. Why do you think Frost took a timeout?? Yesterday I'll give credit for making fun of UNDs mistakes?? And in my opinion, I think north Dakota is happy with a split knowing they only outplayed Minny in one of six periods..give UND credit. We came out hungry after getting embarrassed the day before. UM by no means gave us the game

exactly, glad you agree with me

shots on goal mean nothing unless they go in, the two teams couldn't be more different in that regard, Gophers work the puck for a quality chance, sometimes maybe too much, NoDak puts it on net whenever they can, often I wish the Gophers would do that more.

taking advantage of a teams mistakes isn't being handed a goal, sorry you feel that way

Do they have a mercy rule in the ECAC? I'm already empathizing with Flygh and Koizumi.

No, but they have Jaimie Leonoff at Yale, and she's done a nice job of eliminating the need for a mercy rule.

probably by playing 3 periods EVERY game instead of only two
seriously, when the Gophers play their game nobody has been able to match them
I don't recall them EVER taking a period off or putting it on cruise control last year
or maybe it's just that with 3 Olympic level defenders last year compared to freshmen, they could always quickly stifle/cover any lapse?
