Opposing players are even learning how to say the name correctly.
Yes it can be difficult to make it out over such a loud, cheering crowd...if I can hear somebody yell from across the ice, or hear a player yell to their team mate, but can't hear what comes out of the speaker ...
at Ridder, how would you ever know if the PA mispronounces somebody's name?
note to whomever is in charge: check out the speaker placement/arrangement

UND Meghan Dufault out for this weekend's games vs Bemidji.
Anyone know why?
Tip of the hat to the DU Men for handling the same situation well. As for Dufault missing Sunday, maybe there's more to the story. Otherwise, ouch.Idalski doesn't like lawyers.

Final Score From Saturday, January 2nd
Ohio State 2
Penn State 1
New Calendar Year, Happy ResultThe Buckeyes got the second semester rolling on a fine note, parlaying a strong defensive effort into a 2-1 win. Good thing, as the stingy Penn State defense allowed only 14 SOG. The low shot totals weren't the result of a lack of effort. We saw lots of courageous shot blocking by both sides.
The 3 Stars of the Game: Decidedly Unofficial and Just For Fun
Penn State Honorable Mention: (tie)Laura Bowman, and Amy Peterson
Nice synergy between the 'Tonka girls. Keeping them off the scoreboard again on Sunday will be a challenge.
Ohio State Honorable Mention: Lauren Boyle
I've been mentioning Lauren a lot, and I do like to spread the wealth. But finding a place for Boyle on the list was once again a must. She scored the game's first goal, and had the primary assist on the GWG. Lauren did catch a bit of a break on her tally. Her shot from the left point deflected off a defender's skate, fooling the Penn State goalie. But hey, put the puck on net and good things can happen.
#3 Star: (tie)Victoria Samuelson, Penn State; Shannon Yoxheimer, Penn State; and Hannah England, Penn State
The Nittany Lions had the prettiest goal of the day. Samuelson won a puck along the wing boards, and steered the puck back to Yoxheimer. Shannon sent a perfect cross-slot to England, who was waiting at the back door -- leaving Hannah with an easy tap-in.
#2 Star: (tie)Alex LaMere, Ohio State; and Katie Matheny, Ohio State
Alex didn't get the shutout, as noted above. But except for one picture perfect play, she held the Lions scoreless, which was important on a day when offensive SOG were pretty hard to come by. Tough with the glove and consistently steering rebounds out of trouble, LaMere had a solid outing.
Ultimately the game ended with a Katie Matheny shot block, capping a fine day of team defense.
#1 Star: Dani Sadek, Ohio State
Can't back this one up with stats, and I have to admit osualum86 scooped me on the series thread. But maybe the Force has indeed awakened, and it's strong with both of us. I do believe Dani earned top honors, particularly with her work on the PK.
Next Up: A Rare Sunday Rematch. Face-Off at 2:07 PM EST.
Ah. I suppose a cynic would say it was an obvious call.... I can't take credit for this one. The story on ohiostatebuckeyes.com mentioned Dani's shot blocking prowess on the penalty kill in the third period.
