WCHA Thread III

Re: WCHA Thread III

She can call herself anything she wants and she is still going to be a great hockey player.
It has been impossible for me to watch the twins play during their collegiate career and not have a real appreciation for their skill...due the reality that they're each very skilled players...and I'm obviously not a UMD fan (or I wouldn't be typing this).

My favorite part about their listing on the roster is the "Sr." part.

Re: WCHA Thread III

Wow, I hope my unsupported comment didn’t cause this thread to take this sullied turn in context…if so I apologies.
Last years roster also was void of the hyphenate…so unless you have solid information let’s calm down on the speculation.

Things with the formerly hyphenated part of her name didn't work out. The Big "D". And I don't mean "Defense".

Assuming you are correct then her bio is outdated, as it does say she is "married to Taylor Kolls, brother of teammate Madison Kolls".

Re: WCHA Thread III

Is this really the proper forum [pun intended] to be discussing or posting this? While I recognize it is a matter of public record, is it really any of our business?

Hmmm.... you may be right. But have you read some of these threads?

That said, my response was directed at the idea that I needed to provided some proof as to why the "-Kolls" was changed on the roster. So I did. I make no judgement about the situation one way or another. If anything, I'm compassionately sad for a young, talented athlete to have to go through something like that at a young age. It's not easy. But again, I was just backing up my statement as to why her name had changed.

Re: WCHA Thread III

What a player does off the ice is their business as long as they stay out of trouble and don't cause trouble for their team or their school. Otherwise, tough luck. Divorce sucks. Life goes on. Let's play hockey.

Re: WCHA Thread III

For the record, never did I make any judgement on Monique Lamoureux's divorce. In fact, I wasn't aware that she got divorced. I merely pointed out that on UND's updated roster that her last name had changed. I then pointed out that her bio (as shown on UND's team website) was still showing her as being married to Mr. Kolls. Given the divorce, this obviously needs to be updated, probably by just deleting the whole sentence.

That's it; no more needs to be said on the subject.

Re: WCHA Thread III

1. North Dakota, Minnesota or Wisconsin
2. one of those and also UMD
3. neither Minnesota nor Wisconsin sinks any lower than 3rd
4. the unlucky loser of the top group
5. Beavers or Buckeyes
6. Buckeyes or Beavers
7. Mankato State
8. 35 D1 teams, I think (34 if you don't count Sacred Heart), Saint Cloud probably one of the top 20 but also probably last in the WCHA.

Agree with your ranking of WCHA.

But do you really think every D1 team out East - is inferior to the top 7 in the WCHA? It will be great to see the cross over games and if anyone can give the WCHA teams a competitive game. This kind of thinking beleived by many is also one of the reasons D1 Women's hockey is not growing and girls hockey has slowed. Looking at the out of conference games won't shed much light on WCHA Teams versus top Teams not in WCHA. Very surprised on the number of WCHA Teams playing Lindenwood?

Joe,

I'm a HUGE WCHA fan and can't believe I'm going to say this but I actually think this will be the year an East school wins it all. Hope my gut is wrong.

Me too sad to see the WCHA in men's busting up and hope it does not change the women. The WCHA is a great league that is the benchmark of the game for all to try to mirror Minnesota, Wisconsin, UMD, UND have all made a big commitment to the game. I root for the day you have +50 D1 women's teams playing a higher caliber of hockey and a little more parity for the National Championship.

Did he say that? I thought he was just ranking the WCHA, then essentially saying that SCSU may be top 20 but still headed for the basement. I don't think St. Cloud State is top 20 in any case, because they are likely behind at least 6 WCHA teams, 8 ECAC teams, 5 HEA teams, and a couple from the CHA.

Looking at the out of conference games won't shed much light on WCHA Teams versus top Teams not in WCHA. Very surprised on the number of WCHA Teams playing Lindenwood?
That makes sense from a travel perspective. Otherwise, Lindenwood would be forced to make a lot of trips east, and the Lions already have to go to PA three times and NY twice in conference. UMD has a good schedule this year, playing both BU and BC. Wisconsin continues to schedule like a second-division team. UND plays Clarkson; Minnesota is at SLU. BSU takes on both PC and Maine again. So there are some games to judge by, but yes, it would be nice to have more.
