Wcha 24 25

This week 3 very interesting series:
MSU at UMD. I believe in Kato.
St. Cloud home n home w/SS Goldies - St. Cloud doesn't score a lot, will the ss Goldy float?
BSU at STU - Tommy power > Beaver power

UW did have 2 significant injures, the 2nd D pair of Potter and Murphy were both injured. That could be a crack hull.

  • I'm excited to see 'Kato doing better. And while they might take after Cato the Elder with "Duluth delenda est," Woofers shut down their offense with Gascon in net. But be complacent at their own risk, Mavericks are...mavericky.
  • The last place I'd want to be after an embarrassing loss is in a practice with Nadine Muzzerall. The second to last place I'd want to be is a practice with Brad Frost, especially with his seat getting hot. Gophers get all six points, the second game will be played before 10s of people, most sporting the Maroon and Gold.
  • Tommies are hot right now, but I continue to be a BEAVER BELIEVER, I'll give the Beavs a split. Mendota Heights is Makenna Deering Country, she's from South Saint Paul.

I'm not in tune with the Watts kind of air/newspaper play UM girls hockey gets, but other than a few disappointed posters on this site, is Frosty REALLY getting a hot seat? Shouldn't;'t you at least wait for the season to end? If they pick up a Natty this year you'll be singing a different tune.

with out revealing sources I'll just say that I am very reliably informed that he and the AD have had frank conversations. I know the boosters are divided and people make reference to MJ's down period in defense of Frost but for my sake I'm done.

fire the assistants/win a natty/do SOMETHING. Gopher Women's Hockey is broken.

Thanks for the insight. A program first 4 game skid isn't going to turn the heat down.

Fear the large flappy tailed rodents, they took down my Tommy's despite being out shot 21 to 27. Two empty net goals make it look worse than it really was.

St Cloud wins for the first time in the tunnellers barn evah despite being outshot by 16.

Duluth woodsheds Kato despite the shots being relatively even.

I can't wait for today's games, this is crazy!

Duluth is now only three back of the rodents for 3rd and they play each other next weekend. Juicy.

The tunnelers snatch victory out of the jaws of defeat the two third period goals to win 2 to 1. My adopted team the Tommy's came back and got the split from St Paul Sam's adopted team the Beavers. Mankato, you disappoint me.

Mankato and St Thomas will decide 6th and 7th on the ice next weekend.

And Ohio State could end up 2nd or 3rd; Minnesota could be 2nd, 3rd or 4th; even Duluth could be 2nd, 3rd or 4th.

yeah I was a little late to St. Cloud. SCSU is so committed to their women's hockey program that by the time I got there in the middle of the 1st, there was no one to buy a ticket from so I just wandered in.

Gritty gritty game. If we had lost, the murmurs would have become much louder.

Since Timothy hasn't yet done the weekly preview and I'm procrastinating at work.

*insert dramatic music now...*
  • BADgers (sorry, capslock was stuck on) @ Beavers: Our beautiful rodent cousins, on a roll after beating the Tommies for win number 6 keep it closer than expected Friday before being taken to the woodshed Saturday. Beaver Believers get a point for taking Friday's game to a tie before losing in OT.
  • St. Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs @ An institution of higher learning in Central Ohio: Split with tough minded defense on Friday and an angry Nadine on Saturday. SCSU inches ever closer to an NCAA spot.
  • Woofers (Duluth version) @ Big Sister's house: Angry Gophers go for the jugular as a streaky Duluth team gets swept by some very angry Gophers and a coach whose butt is feeling overly warm despite being in an ice arena. Can't wait to see what refs get assigned to listen to him politely yell at. Who loves you baby? Telly Savalas does...but not the Gophs.
  • Doubting Thomases @ Fightin' John McCains: Mavericks sweep and ensure their travel plans for the following weekend involve only a short drive up US 169. The little girl who was two rows ahead of me at our last game in Mankato (and very disappointed) is pleased and I am happy for her.
If Gophers don't sweep this weekend, I guess I should probably figure out how to get to Hamilton, NY to watch us lose there. And Brad should consider his employment options out east.

Final WCHA Standings
  1. Wisconsin
  2. Minnesota
  3. an Ohio State
  4. Duluth
  5. St. Cloud
  6. MSU-Mankato
  7. Tommies
  8. Beavers

Plan for today - Watch the Badgers at 3, then after completion switch over to cheer on St. Cloud for as long as I can stand watching hockey through that damn black mesh - then once I become dizzy sick or otherwise frustrated, check in on the Bulldogs/Gophers. At least could they figure something else out for that broadcast - Tommies have a net infront of the camera, but it's not nearly as distracting as the OHS Ice Rink.

Thanks for filling in SPS, I've been indisposed the last few days. My goal for the weekend is to have TWSNBN finish as low as possible.

I follow in the footsteps of legends. Also helped me out because my brain needed a break and when i got back to working, I figured something out that had been stumping me all day.

Got to meet new-ish WCHA commissioner Michelle McAteer tonight which was fun.

Gophers win a game that was closer than I'd like it to have been, SCSU gave up a powerplay and an empty netter after apparently keeping it close, Mankato maverick-ed the Sts. Thomasina, Poor Bemidji.

Chaos in Hockey East tonight. Having played both UCONN and Boston U., I have no idea which one winning helps us more but the good news is it appears that Gophers are back in 3rd for the Pairwise after tonight's win.

St. Paul Sam must have had a little too much clear drink celebrating Frosty's one step further away from the noose.. Haha.

St. Cloud storms all the way back after being down 3 only to lose?! Come on man!

off the sauce last night! I'm just a night owl.

helluva job by Gascon today, I need to pull the B10+ stream and see what happened with the 1 goal that was scored today. Genuinely impressed by the Gopher's taking good shots, especially from angles that they might not have otherwise taken. 49 SOG for the Gophers. That's the kind of offensive performance fans have been craving...

Rumor has it the rodents goal was rather controversial.... thoughts?
I didn't watch, but I just looked at the BTN-Plus stream of the game.

Abbey Murphy (who else?) takes a shot from between and beyond the faceoff circles; it goes high over the goal, bounces straight back again over the goal. Gascon has turned, tracking the puck, and catches it glove hand at about crossbar height, pulls her hand down and spins her body back towards center ice. Murphy and Primerano immediately start pointing to the ref - Ryhorchuk - lobbying that Gascon's glove with the puck in to crossed the line. Ryhorchuk makes no signal one way or the other, but skates to center ice to talk to the other officials. Then announces the play is being reviewed.

You can see on the BTN stream that the refs are looking at the overhead view of the goal, but BTN and the Minn production crew show no replays at all. The announcers apologize that there's so much other stuff happening on campus this weekend that they don't have the crew and cameras they normally would, such that they have no replays to show.

After review, it's announced as a goal, that Gascon carried the puck in her glove across the line as she turned. There was no "call on the ice" that I saw, so no "indisputable video evidence" needed?

Who knows what they could see on the overhead view.

I think we only had the two loft cameras, for some reason I thought B10+ had access to the overhead cameras but I guess not.

Normally there's also one facing the benches and another on the far end.

It was a very busy weekend on campus with three different events that had to be streamed on B10+ this afternoon.

Not sure if this is the right place to put it but it does have future reference to the WCHA as a couple of awards for Minnesota Girls High School hockey were awarded today.

The Landcow's recruit Mercury Bischoff is named Ms Hockey and Tunneler recruit Layla Hemp is senior goaltender of the year. Hemp had also been named the All-Minnesota girls hockey player of the year earlier. Seems like that used to be the all-metro player of the year but it seems as though they combined all state and all metro into one category.

The Landcows have a very nice recruiting class coming in next year Highlighted by Mercury Bischoff (Grand Rapids), Zoe Lopez (Orono) and Sophie Stramel (Rosemount).

I should also add that as girl's hockey fans in Minnesota, we get to be treated to a first class high school hockey tournament. This year was no exception as both championship games went to overtime, Just a treat to watch those games. In the Class A final Dodge Country was able to defeat Warroad (no easy task) 4-3. And in the Class AA final, Hill Murray defeated Edina 5-4. Lots of future talent that will be seen playing for a number of WCHA teams.
