WCHA 21-22 Season

I think you’d have to squint pretty hard to see anything other than depth role players at the WCHA level from those three. Conner is in a different category, in my opinion.

What good can come from this matchup?

UM screws up and, dare I say it, does the impossible and lose to RIT? Disaster.

UM screws up and struggles but wins both games? Near disaster. (I could see this happening in one of the games)

UM does what it is supposed to do and handily defeats RIT? Oh goodie. Maybe they can give out participation ribbons to both teams for showing up.

So far 10 minutes in, it looks like we’re playing pond hockey. My hopes not coming true! Your take a little better.

Well, last weekend was like a 0 on the 1 to 10 compelling games excite-o-meter, so let's dive right into this week.

UMD @ BSU. I sure hope BSU plays Hogenson in goal both games, she is the real deal. Split. She could be a transfer target, though she is tiny @ 5-4.
MN / St Cloud home n home. WI beat them 6-0 6-1, OSU 5-2 10-1. MN sweeps
MSU @ OSU. The one that IS a state sweeps.
WI @ St T. OSU beat them 6-2 8-1 recently away. WI WIns 2.

I'd love to know why they did not come back with Hogenson Sunday.

I realize this is an old topic but I don’t believe we ever got an answer to why Hogenson did not play in that second game against Wisconsin so I’m posting here what BSU’s coach said in the local Bemidji paper. Here is the relevant excerpt from the article:

Hogenson did not play in the second game of the series due to lingering injuries, a decision geared toward preserving the sophomore for the rest of the year.

“No question, obviously we would have loved to have just put her right back in, but she was dealing with some issues,” Scanlan said. “We just didn't want to take any chances. It was definitely precautionary. … We just took the route of being a little cautious, looking at long term here for her.”

I appreciate the info! I guess it was a regression to the mean weekend for BSU.

A full slate of compelling match-ups this weekend, how fun! Numbers are league standings.

MN at WI 3 vs 2
OSU at UMD 1 vs 4
BSU at St. Cloud 7 vs 5
St. T at MSU 5 v 7

With sweeps, the Saintly teams can distance themselves from the 7-8 spots, with sweeps the State teams can make the battle for 5-8 a real donnybrook. WI and OSU can bury the MN teams with sweeps and make it a 2 horse race.

- WI breaks out the brooms
- OSU sweeps (I’m sure Muzz has been Jonesin’ for a sweep in Duluth)
- If Frank’s not in goal, UST sweeps. If she is, MSU sweeps.
- The Beavers finally get a WCHA sweep!
