Way To Early 2022 NCAA Field

Have not paid much attention, how many teams make the NCAA playoffs this year ?? Thnks

I understand it to be 12 bids. Based on the current standings of the conferences, this would be the field if the season ended today: [TABLE="width: 361"]

Very entertaining post. But can someone else can draw Hobart once they demolish Plymouth?

Thanks!

So seeding with the PWR in mind, we'd be looking at a 9/3 split like this:

East:
  1. Utica
  2. Geneseo
  3. Hobart
  4. Elmira
  5. Babson
  6. UNE
  7. Wilkes
  8. Plymouth State
  9. Colby
West:
  1. Adrian
  2. Augsburg
  3. St. Norbert
And trying to keep both mileage and bracket integrity in mind here (Colby makes it particularly hard), this was the best bracket I could come up with at this moment

Round 1:

Wilkes @ Elmira
Colby @ Geneseo
Plymouth State @ Hobart
UNE @ Babson

Quarterfinal:
Wilkes/Elmira @ Adrian
Plymouth State/Hobart @ Colby/Geneseo
UNE/Babson @ Utica
St. Norbert @ Augsburg

There was a big shakeup in the PWR today, so now your bracket would look something like this:

East:
  1. Utica
  2. Geneseo
  3. Elmira
  4. UNE
  5. Wilkes
  6. Babson
  7. Hobart
  8. Plymouth State
  9. Colby
West:
  1. Adrian
  2. Augsburg
  3. St. Norbert
First Round:

Colby @ Elmira
Plymouth State @ Geneseo
Hobart @ Wilkes
Babson @ UNE

Quarterfinals:

QF1 - Hobart/Wilkes @ Adrian
QF2 - Plymouth State/Geneseo @ Colby/Elmira
QF3 - Babson/UNE @ Utica
QF4 - St. Norbert @ Augsburg

Semifinals

QF1 winner v. QF2 winner
QF3 winner v. QF4 winner

Part (if not all) if this shake up looks like Hobart’s record on the PWR ranking chart was changed from 19-4-2 to 18-5-2. Hobart’s website, and the NEHC website, still show their record as 19-4-2.

Anyone know how/why they’d have forfeited a previous win?

Think I found it. Looks like Hobart’s 4-1 win vs Potsdam is now showing as a 4-1 loss. I’m guessing this is a glitch…and the PWR will be corrected.

I was wondering what possibly could have changed with the limited amount of games that happened last night.

They have fixed the Hobart game and the PWR should be accurate, so here's what we're looking at right now. For transparency, the auto-bid in each conference is currently given to the highest remaining seed in that conference tournament:

EDIT: Flipped Geneseo, Babson, and Hobart around, which makes an under 500 mile trip for Colby in Round 1

CCC: UNE (10)
MASCAC: Plymouth State (20)
MIAC: Augsburg (3)
NCHA: Adrian (1)
NEHC: Babson (6)
NESCAC: Colby (T-21)
SUNYAC: Geneseo (4)
UCHC: Utica (2)

AL:
St. Norbert (5)
Hobart (7)
Elmira (8)
Wilkes (9)

Wilkes @ Elmira
Colby @ Babson
Plymouth State @ Geneseo
UNE @ Hobart

Quarterfinal:

Wilkes/Elmira @ Adrian
Colby/Babson @ Plymouth State/Geneseo
UNE/Hobart @ Utica

Zzzzzzz...

Let's just employ the PWR, already, and discard the weak sisters' AQ's.

Neither Colby nor Plymouth have any business being in the tournament in the first place.

If you weren't such a Stevie-come-lately, you would know that the granting of AQs to all conferences way back when is what has made Division III hockey more competitive and the best recruits don't all go to the same programs like they used to when it was mostly the same teams in the tournament every year. Who wants to go back to that?

The AQ also allowed Colby to reach Lake Placid in 2018 after finishing sixth (I think) in the NESCAC. Colby won two NCAA games that year, which is one more than self-proclaimed perennial national power Utica has won in their entire existence.
