USCHO Women's Hockey Posters Poll

Re: USCHO Women's Hockey Posters Poll

Well, aside from the fact that I consider your moralizing unconvincing, I guess you don't have any evidence and are content to simply characterize your own speculation as fact.

Moralizing? It seems more like common sense to me. (I'm rather surprised at the opinion you two guys have on this topic). And conversely, your "proof" of no one talking about such things makes it a fact that such thoughts never crossed their minds?

So, we disagree.

But I will say that I gotta good laugh out of your comment in post #694. I wonder if the eastern fans are tired of WCHA teams winning the big prize or if they are just tired of only three WCHA teams winning it?

Because it's pretty clear, after today's result, that eastern hockey is superior and if BC had the opportunity against the western teams they'd wipe the floor with them too.

Re: USCHO Women's Hockey Posters Poll

1. Clarkson
2. Minnesota
3. Wisconsin
4. Cornell
5. Mercyhurst
6. Harvard
7. Boston University
8. North Dakota
9. RIT
10. Quinnipiac

BC can spend the whole summer in the naughty corner. While one can forgive a loss to the national champion, they'd already used up all my grace prior to losing to BU. Quit underachieving or change to some sort of dog name so we know what to expect.

Re: USCHO Women's Hockey Posters Poll

1. Minnesota -- because 38-2-1 is still 38-2-1, no matter how that second loss came.
2. Clarkson -- because national champs is still national champs and because ECAC is still the hardest conference to win.
3. North Dakota -- because beating Minnesota, Wisconsin and Clarkson is still beating Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Clarkson, and losses when you're missing your Olympians aren't a true reflection of the quality of your team.
4. Cornell -- because winning the ECAC tournament is winning the ECAC tournament.
5. Wisconsin -- because no matter how consistent you are in your conference, if you pick a garbage OOC schedule we really can't tell how good you are.
6= BC -- because winning Hockey East regular season counts for something, and losing the Hockey East tournament meant we couldn't even go "they're a big game team who sometimes lose focus in lesser games", and because even if you're a big game team losing to UConn and tying Princeton is smh omg omfg,
6= Harvard -- because Harvard.
8. Mercyhurst -- because they find a way to get it done.
9. Quinnipiac -- because they nearly find a way to get it done.
10. RIT / Robert Morris / BU / Northeastern -- because also received votes.

Happy summer everyone!

I'll be very interested to see how the leadership of Alex Carpenter 2.0 changes the Eagles. I expect them to take every game more seriously going forward.

Also, RPI?

Strange post if you're a Clarkson fan. I would think the team would want to bask in their fifteen minutes as long as possible without thinking about next year.

Well, if after less than 24 hours out we aren't supposed to look back, and given the exhausted state of what few brain cells are left, how about: What will be the coinage of choice in 20014-15 for the most annoying part of hockey season (i.e., roundball)?

1. bouncyball
2. squeakyball
3. shootyhoops
4. luv em all!

Re: USCHO Women's Hockey Posters Poll

All I really know about is Hockey East, and there I think you're underestimating the effect for BU of Poulin returning, one (or more?) U18s coming in the freshman class, and possibly Shannon Doyle returning from injury. Vermont did great but may have reached the top of their potential unless they can win more recruiting battles. My best guess is no change from last year's order:

Hockey East
1 BC
2 BU
3 NU
4 Vermont

In ECAC, you're right, Harvard has a strong freshman class and three returning from the Olympics, so you have to fancy them. Wisconsin also have a strong freshman class. Nationally I'm going as follows, but everything after 7 is a guess (and everything between 4 and 7 is a guess too).

1 Minn
2 Wisco
3 Harvard
4 Clarkson
5 BC
6 Cornell
7 UND
8 BU
9 Mercyhurst
10 Quinni

Can't speak with detail to the other leagues, but in the ECAC, my guess is that it will be Harvard and Cornell much more so than Clarkson and Quinnipiac. Both Harvard and Cornell have Olympians returning, and key current players returning. Clarkson and Quinnipiac are both losing a lot to graduation. Not up to speed enough on the quality of their recruiting classes to know if there is enough there to challenge the Crimson and the Big Red. JMO.

Exactly. Savor the moment(s) for as long as you can.

Re: USCHO Women's Hockey Posters Poll

For next year I would go something along the lines of:

1) Minnesota
2) Harvard
3) Boston College
4) Wisconsin
5) Cornell

With all 5 pretty darn close to each other.

You might see a pretty substantial drop off below those 5.

Watch out for Wisconsin next year. I feel this may be a case of underestimation.
