USCHO Women's Hockey Posters Poll

Re: USCHO Women's Hockey Posters Poll

1) Minnesota
2) Wisconsin
3) Clarkson
4) North Dakota
5) Cornell
6) Boston College
7) Harvard
9t) Quinnipiac
9t) Robert Morris
9t) Mercyhurst

No matter how hot they are, I still can't put a team only 1 game above .500 in the top 10.

Re: USCHO Women's Hockey Posters Poll

BC fanboys seem to be in abundance here, are the Pollsters ahead of the curve, or just not as smart as the official polls?

1) 1-1-1-1=4 Minnesota 26-1-1
-----------------------
2) 2-2-2-2=8 Wisconsin 21-3-2
-----------------------
3) 5.5-3-4-5=17.5 Cornell 16-3-4
4) 3-4-5-6=18 Clarkson 21-4-3
5) 4.5-7.5-3-3=18 Northwestern Minnesota University16-7-3
6) 4.5-5-6-4=19.5 Harvard 17-2-3
----------------------------
7) 7-6.5-7-7=27.5 Boston College 19-4-3
-----------------------------------
8) 8.5-7-8-8=31.5 Robert Morris 21-5-2
-------------------------------------
9) 8.5-9.5-9-11=38 Quinnipiac 17-4-7
10) 10-9.5-10-10=39.5 Mercyhurst 17-7-3

Since ONMAA got it wrong, it might pay to review:
(I don't have a doctorate, so I'll phrase it so everyone can understand, I have no need to impress anyone)
if 4 points or more seperates teams, it can be assumed the teams are accurately placed
if not, it's a tossup, too close to call, thus the above grouping

did ONMAA really put me on his ignore list? ... now if I could get eyeoree to do the same I wouldn't have to see their idiotic(in eyeore's case angry too) comments to my posts

Re: USCHO Women's Hockey Posters Poll

Whole lot of swapping this week, and there is definitely quite the traffic jam between Cornell, North Dakota, and BC. The order changed with each new vote that came in.

Week XV Posters Poll

I really wanted to pick only seven teams this week.

Re: USCHO Women's Hockey Posters Poll

No change in 1,2. Fully expect that to stay the same.
3-8 is now a real log jam. Everyone in that group has some recent clunkers.

1 - Minnesota (1).....W,W........Winning two they are expected to win
================================================== ============
2 - Wisconsin (2).....W,W........Winning two they are expected to win
================================================== ============
3 - Clarkson (3).......T,T.........Cooling off ?....Huge game with Harvard coming up.
4 - Cornell (5)..........W,W.......Two wins, but convincing it was not.
5 - BC (4)...............L,W.........Hick-up Loss to UCONN ??. Back on form to win Beanpot.
6 - Harvard (7).........W,W.......Two important wins. Huge game with Clarkson coming up
7 - UND (6)..............W,T........Dropping a point at UMD.
8 - NU (10)............W,L.......... Win over Harvard, Win over Providence, Loss to BC
===================================================================
9 - Quinnipiac (8).....T,L.........Good tie with Clarky, only to lose to SLU.
10 - MU (NR)...........W,W.........Passing RMU, the more things change the more they stay the same in the WCHA.
================================================== ============

RMU Dropping and fading fast. Is UMD still in the picture. Perhaps, but not convinced at this point. Same goes for BU.

Even if UW swept, I couldn't justify making UW #1 and the rodents #2 as long as the rodents are ahead in the wcha, which they will be, and knowing both teams held serve and won at home. My concern is if the rodents sweep in tightly contested games, is there any chance UW falls out of the top 4?

Not this week. Three teams would have to pass Wisconsin, and two of the closest pursuers, Harvard and Clarkson, are meeting head to head. One of those teams has to take a loss or both will get ties, which shouldn't improve their RPIs, and Wisconsin has a considerable advantage there.

Re: USCHO Women's Hockey Posters Poll

I really wanted to pick only seven teams this week.
No kidding... I only wanted to pick 2!

Here's mine:

1) Minnesota -- Duh

==

2) Wisconsin -- RAH RAH RAH FOR SKI-U-MAH this week... but I have a feeling Wisconsin is going to sweep, which would be enough for me, at least, to make them the new #1. Call it a hunch.

==
==
==
==
==

3) Cornell -- Two unimpressive wins, but with Clarkson's .500 weekend I gave them the edge.

4) Clarkson -- Almost called this a tie, but decided to break it with Cornell's unblemished weekend. These two teams are really close.

==

And now we have the pileup:

5) Boston College -- What the actual kcuf happened in Storrs? Hot goaltender, yes, but this shouldn't happen. Given how hot they have been I'm not going to be too hard on them, because I still think they are the best team of this group.

6) North Dakota -- Not giving them a pass for missing players, but I had them behind BC last week and with similar weekends I'm going to keep them here.

7) Harvard -- Perfect weekend, but this team looks like crap and they'd built up a bit of a gap between them and the two above them, so keeping them 7th.

8) Quinnipiac -- Not the worst weekend in the world but they are the very definition of 'meh' at this point.

===

9) Robert Morris -- Someone better turn on the air raid sirens in West Virginia because my goodness, we have quite the Terrierian free fall coming from Pittsburgh. Mercyhurst has officially caught RMU but I'm not going to flip them just yet.

10) Mercyhurst -- Quietly has put together a 5 game winning streak, but let's not get carried away over their most recent sweep over RIT.

I dropped Northeastern, not so much because of their loss to BC (even though they never really threatened in that game), but because of their record I don't think they deserve to jump RMU or Mercyhurst right now. RMU because they had built up too much of a lead (though that gap has closed significantly) and Mercyhurst because they have had a better season overall.

1) Minnesota
2) Wisconsin

Does anyone want to be third? Anyone? Anyone?
3) Clarkson
4) Cornell
5) North Dakota
6) Harvard
7) Mercyhurst

These teams were all naughty last week and are now sitting in the corner. Mostly I'm just ticked at the hare that is BC for continually finding new, creative ways to lose to the tortoise.
8) Boston College
9) Quinnipiac
10) Robert Morris

Re: USCHO Women's Hockey Posters Poll

not picking #10 this week, I barely want to pick #8 & #9
really, the NCAA tourney this year should give MN & WI a bye and have the next best 4 fight it out to see who play them

2) 2-2-2-2=8 Wisconsin
3) 4-4-3-3=14 Cornell
4) 3-3-6.5-4=16.5 Northwestern Minnesota
5) 5-5-4-6=20 Harvard
6) 6-6-5-5=22 Clarkson
7) 7-7-6-7=27 Boston College
8) 9-9-8-8=33 Mercyhurst
