USCHO Poster's Poll: '17-'18

Re: USCHO Poster's Poll: '17-'18

The (WHEA) teams that beat Wisconsin, beat BC, tied and lost to Clarkson, beat MN, barely lost to BC, swept NU, and split 2 games with Clarkson are... bad?

Your entire post was an argument for the WHEA being better than the other two leagues.

You might want to try again, Gilligan.

Just for the sake of accuracy fixed your post ;)

And I given the head to head results between the leagues I think that WHEA is a bit stronger than the ECAC, not so much at the top but definitely at the bottom.

Head to head results of ECAC vs WHEA

Top 4 ECAC (Clarkson, Colgate, Cornell, SLU) 10-2-2
Top 3 WHEA (BC, Providence, Maine) 12-6-3

Middle 4 ECAC (Quinny, Yale, Harvard, Prinny) 6-11-4
Middle 3 WHEA (UNH, Northeastern, BU) 6-7-4

Bottom 4 ECAC (RPI, Union, Dart, Brown) 2-15-4
Bottom 3 WHEA (UVM, UConn, Merrimack) 10-5-3

UMD at #10 (UMD's W's over Colgate and 2 v Ohio St trump any results for Providence, Maine or Robert Morris).

If we rank based upon the last two games, then I'm with you. That way we can forget UMD just got roughed up by St. Cloud the week before.

Guess what else -- Lindenwood and Yale suddenly are smelling top 10!

I keep forgetting, the members of this forum need everything spelled out for them.
I never said the two teams, Vermont & NE were bad, that was your conclusion.
The poster I quoted said WI & MN would be mid pack in Hockey Easy because they lost to those two teams.
But BC also lost to NE, and obviously they are not mid pack in Hockey Least. BC didn't exactly beat up Vermont either.

It should be pretty obvious by now that this, an Olympic year, is a year of parity, just about anybody can beat anybody else. If you don't bring your A game, you are probably going to lose, or at least make winning more difficult than it should be.

IMO, it will be the first year that any team that makes the final 8 has a legitimate hope of ending up the champion. Maybe some more than others, but at least everyone has a legitimate shot at it.

Did I mention Minnesota split with Merrimack at home? But in fairness, so did Union.

You have gotten a little sloppy and in "fariness", that is probably due to being a little rusty from not posting much lately. While that has been enjoyable, eventually good things come to an end... ;)

Like Minnesota actually being good...

Re: USCHO Poster's Poll: '17-'18

Does anyone calculate and publish RPI (or other) by conference?

No, but I probably could with my calculators. I have both KRACH and RPI. Wouldn't take that much tinkering to convert, like, "BOSTON COLLEGE" to "WHEA," etc., and then run an RPI or KRACH calc on all the interconference matchups.

The only problem with that though is that if you had, like, Merrimack vs. Wisconsin as all of our WHEA vs. WCHA games, it would be unfairly skewed one way or another. I'm probably just thinking the setup wrong. Eeyore can correct me; he's an analytical guy.

Yeah I was going to jump in a couple weeks ago when the ten Minnesota posters were projecting which seven forwards get to play in the JV games next season but then realized I would rather post about the Wisconsin pep band.

Good choice...The selective statistics don't really work too well for you there so it makes sense for you to have avoided those. I approve of you making choices like that... ;):D
