Re: USCHO Poster's Poll: '16-'17

The top ten theme for this week is the cliches coaches use.

1) Wisconsin - "In the WCHA on any given day, any team is capable of beating any other team."
2) Minnesota - "We've made some mistakes that have cost us but they are correctable mistakes."
3) Quinnipiac - "We've done a good job of controlling the tempo of our games so far."
4) Colgate - "Our leaders have stepped up and made plays."
5) St Lawrence - "Our goal is to have everyone go out there and give 110% on every shift and good things will happen."
6) UMD - "We learned some things about our team this weekend."
7) BC - "They made plays...We didn't...Coaches gotta coach better...Players gotta play better."
8) Clarkson - "This isn't a sprint, it's a marathon. We have a lot of hockey yet to play."
9) UND - "When we play like we played today, we can play with anyone."
10) Bemidji - "We try to keep things simple, manage the game by thinking defense first and getting pucks deep and looking to capitalize on the opponents mistakes."

Re: USCHO Poster's Poll: '16-'17

1. Wisconsin - still winning
2. Minnesota - still here
3. UMD - wins the weekend
4. Princeton - jumps Q/Colgate (from my last week's poll)... but who knows?
5. St Lawrence - ditto and rolling
6. Colgate - didn't hold at my 5 rank
7. Boston College - impressive weekend for this young team
8. Clarkson - holds their spot
9. Quinnipiac - uh oh
10. Bemidji - holds their spot (and lacking a different idea)

looking to move into rankings... North Dakota (too bad they can't play more HE teams)

HE shows signs of life thanks to the Eagles. BC will keep climbing based on it's relatively easy schedule.
ECAC is going to have a cannibalistic season. Lots of beating each other up in the rankings. Grant's charts are going to look funny.
CHA is getting better but can't crack top 10 yet (except by auto-bid).
WCHA would be like ECAC if it wasn't for the dominant top 2 (or 3?). Best conference top to bottom... again.

Re: USCHO Poster's Poll: '16-'17

4. Princeton - jumps Q/Colgate (from my last week's poll)... but who knows?
A leap of faith IMO based on only one weekend sweep over what looks to be a weak Dartmouth team. Time will tell as they face stronger opponents, starting with St. Lawrence and Clarkson the weekend of November 4th & 5th.

Re: USCHO Poster's Poll: '16-'17

Here's what I got:

1 Wisconsin
2 Minnesota
3 Colgate
4 Minnesota-Duluth
5 Princeton
6 St. Lawrence
7 Boston College
8 Quinnipiac
9 Clarkson
10 Northeastern

Hot take: This year's ECAC is the strongest overall conference in the history of the sport. Discuss.

Re: USCHO Poster's Poll: '16-'17

1) Wisconsin
2) Minnesota
3) Minnesota-Duluth
4) Colgate
5) St. Lawrence
6) Boston College
7) Quinnipiac
8) Princeton
9) Bemidji State
10) Cornell

Hot response: This year's ECAC isn't the strongest conference in this year of the sport.

Re: USCHO Poster's Poll: '16-'17

I'm surprised that some are giving a Colgate a boost after their 2-2 tie and narrow 3-2 win over an unheralded Syracuse team.

1) Wisconsin
2) Minnesota
3) Minnesota-Duluth
4) Colgate
5) Quinnipiac
6) Boston College
7) St-Lawrence
8) Princeton
9) Bemidji State
10)Ohio State

You are 1000% right. Ranking Princeton 4th is a huge leap and a bigger guess. But I think an ECAC team has to be at #4. Right now it's between Colgate, SLU and Princeton. SLU looks very good, Colgate too, but I remember how good Princeton was at end of last season.

Re: USCHO Poster's Poll: '16-'17

2. Minnesota
3. M. Duluth
4. Colgate
5. BC
6. SLU
7. Quinnipiac
8. Clarkson
9. North Dakota
10. Princeton

Re: USCHO Poster's Poll: '16-'17

Interesting to see how you Gents see the Top 10.....since I have seen Colgate, BC, BU, Clarkson, and Quinni all play a young UNH squad, (7 Frosh, 7 soph), the team that really took it to UNH before the 3rd period was BU! Clarkson did show some good ability in yesterday's game however........Cashin had 44 saves, with UNH blocking close to 20! Clarkson showed that they deserved to be in the FF last year and since those were in Durham last year, they knew how to play on Lake Whitt. Don't know what that says overall just my opinion.....
