USCHO Poster's Poll: '16-'17

Re: USCHO Poster's Poll: '16-'17

Grant, any extended due date for posting this week? St. Lawrence plays on Monday and Tuesday and Colgate plays on Tuesday and Wednesday.

what's the big deal? StL & Colgate play CHA teams, if they lose you can take it out on them next week

1) StL - last undefeated team, and their only blemish is from Clarkson
2) Wisco - will have to wait for StL to stumble before regaining #1
3) MN - can't complain about being #3 when you have only one line that can score
4) UMD - has two lines that can score
5) Clarkson
OK, time to get out the dart board, any of these teams are capable of beating anybody, but not likely to win 3 in a row like it takes to win the NCAA
6)UND
7)Colgate
8)Quinnipiac
9)Frankiln Pierce :o
10) BC

geography students will note these last teams are ranked from west to east, as good a way as any

I'm not going to include Franklin Pierce, in case you want to replace them :)

Who has StL defeated that proves they earned a ranking above teams who have beat WCHA best of the best...

SLU has 2 wins over Northeastern, a win and a tie against Clarkson, a win over Quinnipiac and Princeton. 5-0-1 against ranked teams...Not too shabby.

Is that enough to rank above Wisconsin or Minnesota? From a record standpoint, yes. For the purpose of this poll and projecting who I think ranks best, not yet.

SLU, CCT, UMTC and Wisconsin have a 4 year scheduling arrangement on the men's side. It might be nice to do the same on the ladies' side.

That would be cool!

SLU took a holiday in Minnesota over the New Year a couple years ago and threw in some hockey games against MSU-Mankato and UM. That struck me as a very cool thing as well!

You are right, mid-winter in Minnesota can be very cool. ;)

only 1000 people attended the first game and 800 the second
those that did attend were given a special treat, 2 players with a hat trick in the same game
if I remember correctly after the Gophers grabbed a comfortable lead they rolled 4 lines with 3 centers the first game, and usually had the off wing near the opponents blue line for a long pass breaking out of the D zone
fans were grinning and yelling from start to finish

SLU did a better job of holding back the ocean the second game, SLU had provided BC with their only blemish to that point, I got the feeling the Gophers were after what they really wanted for Christmas, a number 1 ranking, and completely dominating the Saints was to prove a point, if to nobody but themselves

I'm leaning towards making St. L #1. Their resume seems pretty stout to me, though the loss to McGill may allow me to keep the Badgers #1.

SLU treated it like an exhibition, playing all three goalies. Kind of like the time all of Wisconsin's back-ups played and Ohio State tied them.

LOL. Now I'm definitely making UW #1 thanks to the smart ***** eastern biased fans. I'll never have an eastern team #1. NEVER!

It was supposed to be UW/UM rather than MSU/UM, but Bucky changed his mind for some reason. Anyway, SLU is game for a challenge.

I wouldn't figure you for an SLU hater. SLU is kind of like Wisconsin, except their goaltender has a slightly better save percentage and more shut-outs.
