Spotify also recommended Lizzy McAlpine to me this morning, and she's in the same vein as Lucy Dacus, Phoebe Bridgers, and Julien Baker. "Doomsday" and "Ceilings" are especially good.

Jimmy Eat World and Fall Out Boy are coming to the Van Andel Arena next March.

A good chance to indulge in late 1990s/early 2000s nostalgia.

Birthday playlist:

"The Only Exception"- Paramore
"Somewhere Only We Know"- Keane
"Sorry, Not Sorry"- Demi Lovato
"Really Don't Care"- Demi Lovato
"Freak Like Me"- Halestorm
"Extraordinary Machine"- Fiona Apple
"My Body"- Young The Giant
"Alive"- Sia
"Self Aware"- Qveen Herby
"Head Up High"- Fitz
"I Just Wanna Shine"- Fitz and the Tantrums
"Counting Stars"- One Republic
"Don't Be So Hard On Yourself"- Jess Glynne

Saw Jimmy Eat World a couple years ago with Dashboard Confessional for our first post-covid concert. They still put on a good show, would recommend it if you can go.

The country that gave us Margot Robbie and Isla Fisher?

You stand there in your wrongness and be wrong.

I have a relative in Australia (dad’s cousin, my paternal grandmother was from Brisbane) who tells fantastic stories from his days being a roadie for various acts that came through NSW and Victoria in 70s-80s. One of my favorite connections on Facebook.

Spotify recently added a feature called "DJ" which is just another suggestive playlist, but this one includes an AI voice that occasionally announces the next song. I couldn't place why the voice sounded familiar and I just realized it sounds exactly like when John Mulaney does his bit about Ice-T from Law & Order. Now I can't unhear it.

Used the DJ feature this morning and gave me "based on recent listening," so I got:

"Butterflies and Hurricanes"- Muse
"Only Happy When It Rains"- Garbage
"My Immortal"- Evanescence
"Heaven Knows"- The Pretty Reckless
"Closing Time"- Semisonic

Not bad choices for a Friday morning.

Went into the 1990s Country hole on Spotify. Pre 9/11 bro-country.

"I Like It, I Love It"- Tim McGraw
"Fancy"- Reba McEntire
"Man! I Feel Like A Woman"- Shania Twain
"Neon Moon"- Brooks & Dunn
"Down At The Twist And Shout"- Mary Chapin Carpenter
