USCHO Music: From Queen to The Beatles to Lady Gaga

So, Beat Tour at the Warner Theater in DC last night.

Levin is 78 and still amazing. Belew is 71 or 72 and still a maestro. This is the first time I had seen Vai in concert. When he stays controlled ("discipline") he is magnificent. When he went off on flourishes he just was outside my comfort for Fripp music.

I had never even heard of Danny Carey. He's a great drummer. He set out to out-Bruford Bruford and succeeded. Sublimated himself entirely to the material.

The encores included "Red," and having all three guys up stage playing a full-on hard rock version was a blast. I really thought the first half of the show was weak, with muddy sound mixing and meh song selection. The second half was brilliant. The tour is worth it.

Warner is now run by 9:30. Remodeled 1920s silent movie house. Lovely venue:

I saw Vai in concert last summer at a small theater in Bar Harbor. While he is obviously talented it wasn't for me and my wife hated it :) I would like to see him with a band that he was a part of and not the whole show.

Danny Carey is a fantastic drummer! He’s the drummer for Tool.

"We have brothers in this world." NOFX final concert. They finished with The Decline accompanied by 50 other musicians.

We are the queer
We are the whore
Ammunition in the class war
We are the worker
We love our queen
We sacrifice; we're soylent green

Cross-posting the TV thread.

Heard an absolutely unique and interesting instrument performed live tonight as well. The sheng. Had never heard of it before tonight.

It's like a cross between an accordion and like several other instruments. One of the most unique sounds I've ever heard.

My eldest kid saw Nada Surf at the Fine Line last night. Crazy how these things come full circle. I miss going to shows on the regular and the Fine Line is a nice venue. He said after the show he had a brief convo with Matt Caws and he signed a poster for him.

mookie saw Johnny Marr Thursday night with his 15yo daughter. she found the smiths on her own and was excited as mookie to see and hear Johnny. Mookie gets where slappy is coming more here ;)
