I will admit something terrible, though. I get bored. Also happens with The Seven Samurai and the Latin Evensong. I recognize I am in the presence of a taut, balanced, sublime beauty. But I lose the thread and drift and get sleepy.

I wish Ellington (died 1974) had been around long enough to be in the Blues Brothers movie (1980). Listening to his full catalog is probably the most psychologically healthy thing I've done in my life besides being a dad. It changes you from the inside. Really puts things in perspective and gives you the calm to keep plugging away, which is what 90% of life amounts to.
