USCHO Music: From Queen to The Beatles to Lady Gaga

mookie saw Johnny Marr Thursday night with his 15yo daughter. she found the smiths on her own and was excited as mookie to see and hear Johnny. Mookie gets where slappy is coming more here ;)

Johnny Marr was touring with his 15 year old daughter?

I keed, I keed.

Saw Johnny Marr a couple years ago in a tiny club in Portland, Maine. He was brilliant, and his band was great. Didn't need that twat Morrissey at all.

And just the other day I realized that when I saw The The way back in the day, that WAS Johnny Marr playing with them. He played on the album that they were touring for, but I wasn't quite sure it was him, he had his hair cut real short and wasn't quite as recognizable.

Also did see The Smiths back in the day, but didn't really enjoy it as much as I should have, just cause Morrissey was such an insufferable twat. Outdoor daytime show didn't help.

We saw Morrissey at The Orpheum in 1993 or so and he cut the show short because of the idiots that like to jump on stage and hug him.

I see Love & Rockets are touring now (which I of course have to miss) and I also missed Bauhaus' tour in 2022 as I could not extend my then trip to MN to when they played in St. Paul.

…Jack White played a surprise show at a restaurant called Vanguard right up the street from where I live. I missed it, damn!!

Listening to Chappell Roan today. It keeps getting better and better.

After listening to nothing but her for 5 days, I take back everything negative I said about her.

1. Her voice is lovely.
2. She has a good range.
3. Her videos are absolutely amazing; whoever does them should win awards.
4. Her lyrics are much better than we have any right to expect from a 20-something. She writes about both heartbreak and passion with an understanding I frankly thought went out with Verlaine and Rimbaud.
5. She has weak songs, but of course she does; everybody does.

Attend the MN Orchestra and MN Chorale's performance of Mozart's Requiem tonight.

I've heard it a million times on recordings but never live.

Everyone should see this live at least once. It's so beautiful. I know everyone has heard Lacrimosa, but live and in person it's absolutely religious

I commented to my wife after that I wish we had attended all of the performances because there is just so much going on.
