If this is U18/U22 geared, main stays on the National squad may not be part of this for a good reason.

Seen cases in the past that players to old for U22, but not mainstays or bubble for national squad are included in these type of camps, aor sometimes even on the games vs Team Canada U22. Canada sometimes does employ the same strategy for their "U22" squad that goes to the MLP cup or whatever that is called these days.

I see that both the BC and Minny bretheren have already weighed in on this... I don't think their are any players chosen from the NCAA champs...Just saying in response to one of the commenters. :D :D :D

As far as I can see they took almost all the Americans from the NCAA champs :-)

Wisconsin is represented with 1 former, 2 (could of been 3) current and 3 futures.

1) Have Megan Bozek, Molly Schaus and Kate Buesser retired?

2) Given that the goal of the camp is to pick an U-18 and U-22 team, it seems odd to have people like Blake Bolden and Lisa Chesson there -- has that been SOP in past years? I hope their inclusion is a sign they're still in the running for the national senior team, Bolden has been great for the Blades this year.

3) Josephine Pucci isn't at this and wasn't at the Beantown Classic either. I hope she's not injured. I hope Amanda Kessel's okay too.

4) Pleased to see the inclusion of Miye D'Oench, Shiann Darkangelo and Paige Savage, who were all outstanding in the games I saw them in against BC. Savage was great in Beantown too.

5) Biggest snub: everyone will have their own choice, but for me it's Brittany Ott, who has been outstanding for the Blades and should be under consideration for the national team, especially if Schaus isn't available. (I'm assuming Bozek, Schaus, Kessel etc are missing it for their own reasons, not because of not having been invited)

She was working at KFAN and I think that gig continued into the summer. I like the Canadian habit of also listing those who were invited but could not attend. Wish USA Hockey would do the same.

Perhaps its because she is not an alumni of Selects Hockey. I am simply asking the question, do the better kids go there OR does Selects Hockey do some back door lobbying? They have a lot of players at National Camp make the All-Star game.

Selects hockey has done nothing to develop these players. They scout various tournaments and try to grab the best players they can. The players have all gotten to where they are but Selects hockey tries to hang their hat like they did something to get them there. Not today.....If you have $3500 burning a hole in your pocket and fall for the Euro tour then shame on you. If your player is that good Selects hockey will do nothing to bring them to the next level....take a close look as people are starting to figure it out as they had very little success at Beantown. The Selects are in business for 1 reason and that is $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$......Selects hockey has ZERO influence on USA hockey. I am not being a negative Nellie by any stretch but facts are facts. Wake up and smell the coffee folks....use your $ wisely.......

Lets get a few things straight here. Selects Hockey is by no means the one and only organization out there running a business trying to make $$$ from hockey. The number of emails I get trying to get me to buy in to "the best college showcase" is proof of that. Many of the girls that participate are elite level players that early on play with teams where they are among the strongest players on their respective teams. Selects Hockey provides them an opportunity to play with other kids at their skill level without yanking them out of their local programs. This is especially true if you do not live near one the hubs of stronger girls hockey - for us it is a three hours drive to any such thing. You don't think that helps to develop them? You don't think these girls don't enjoy the challenge of playing tougher competition on occasion? I am not referring to the European tours (those are out of my budget!) but more about the high level competitions, camps and showcases they do in the US and Canada throughout the season.

Having dealt with a number of organizations and other companies (all of which are in it for a profit whether they say they are non-profit or not) I can tell you one thing about Selects Hockey - they are one of the most professional groups I have dealt with.

I agree with this post. Selects and similar teams provide an opportunity, especially for those of us in the hockey hinterlands, for our daughters to play with other players with similar ability outside their local club. The fact that they are able to attract good players to their teams in turn attracts more good players. It creates a critical mass that draws in better players. I don't see the downside. I don't begrudge them making a profit. They are providing a service and should make money. That's the American way. No one forces you to play with them.

Completely support these 2 posts. My younger daughter has played with Selects Hockey the past three years and looks forward to re-engaging with team-mates she does not see during the regular season. We have found that the hockey is very good and the organization is highly professional. No regrets whatsoever.
