US National Teams: U30s & Mrs. Potter, U22s, U18s Part II

Re: US National Teams: U30s & Mrs. Potter, U22s, U18s Part II

This is radical and dangerous thinking. Internet forums exist so that we may post negative, bitter thoughts and hopefully foster discord with fellow posters. Taking a positive outlook on even so-called "fun" activities like hockey games or the teams that play them may tilt the earth on its axis and cause universal ruin.

Well I'm new to this, maybe after I read and respond to as many of the posts on this forum as you have, I might change my ways. Lol!!!

Great post!

Gentlemen and or Ladies, it is very clear that for whatever reason North East DAD did not agree with the 30 players selected to attend the 2013 U.S. Women's Under 18 Evaluation Camp and most likely will have the same opinion when the final team is announced. You would think that most everyone who participates in posting on this forum understands that selecting a team is not an exact science and I would even be willing to bet that 99.9% of the time, if you asked any 3 coaches, at any level, to pick a team from the same pool of players, just about every time, if not every time all 3 coaches would have a different roster. It could be safe to say that everyone has an opinion, and that opinions are neither right nor wrong, and an opinion is just that, an opinion. I would tend to think that the coaches who have been selected to coach the U18 team go into the selection process with every intention of selecting the best team possible with the belief they will compete for the Gold Medal out at the World Championship. Also it wouldn’t be hard to believe that during the process there is some bumps along the way and even a difference of opinion among the coaches themselves as to 1 or 2, or even more players who they feel best fits, but in the end feel confident they have selected the best team possible to compete for a Gold Medal. Regardless of my opinion or anyone else’s of the coaches and or players selected for the 2014 U.S. Women’s Under 18 Team, I’m here to support them and wish them all great success at the World Championship, as I hope any true hockey person would. I’m sure you have worked hard and should be proud of your accomplishment. GO USA!

When typically do they announce the team?

Team has been picked, players notified, and I would expect something by the end of the month. However, given the Olympics are just around the corner and the focus is most likely there right now, it could be post-Olympics before there is a formal announcement.

"my agency"...You gotta love it when some of these players are either savvy enough themselves and/or lucky enough to have family or friends who are knowledgeable enough to steer them in the right direction of financially capitalizing on their extraordinary talent and whatever accompanying fame that they may have.

Love this article...thanks for posting it.

Not uncommon for Olympians, especially those likely to be in medal contention. Interesting to note there was no mention of being a multi-time World Champion, and the fact that her gloves were "blacked" out. Bet the team sponsor won't be too thrilled.

Speaking of endorsements, I wish tGigi's commercial got more airplay.

I was perusing the Sochi Olympics Official site to check the rosters of the non - North American teams. I'm not sure where the player's mug shots came from, but very few of them even hold up to the high standards of the Departments of Motor Vehicles and / or Corrections:eek:

Also intersting to note that there is no sign of the host team.

Hos roster was announced earlier this week at training camp in Novogorsk. I'll look up the article (in Russian) and link it.

Thanks, I had heard that their starting goaltender was pregnant but was going to play anyway, but it looks like this will not be the case:

"Nadezdha Alexandrova, who was selected as the Directorate Top Goaltender at the 2013 Women’s World Championship, was a notable omission from the Sochi roster due to pregnancy. The likely starting netminder would be Anna Prugova, who was on the Vancouver 2010 roster but only saw one game."

 It looks like they couldn't decide on a design concept so they just went with all of the ideas. I watched enough of "Project Runway" years ago to remember how important it is to edit.

Isn't quilting all the rage now?

In the sixties you could be arrested for doing that to the American flag!

Other than the flags, it kind of reminds me of the Christmas sweaters our grandma knitted for us kids years ago. Very colorful!
