US National Teams: U30s & Mrs. Potter, U22s, U18s Part II

Re: US National Teams: U30s & Mrs. Potter, U22s, U18s Part II

Who ever puts Molly Schaus on any Team USA roster will have an extreme amount of pressure upon them. She can't win the big one. Why is Erika Lawler there? She had zero ****s of period 3 vs Canada in the Gold Game (Burlington). Is USA Hockey trying to develop an 87 birth year. Bring some young TALENT in, please.

It is one game a year and one really big game every four years, stopping wasting time!!!! I hate losing to the Canadiens

Mr/Mrs Call it. Hux already Called it. Your post is not in tune with reality. Ms Lawler has been a team USA contributor for years and has several World and NCAA D1 gold medals in her Closet. Ms Schaus is a top notch goaler, who carried her team to the Final four a few years back, so don't agree that they cannot perform under pressure. Not sure why you are singling them out. Last time I checked, this is a TEAM game, win as a team, lose as a team.

Of course he is. Anyone that would question why Lawler, the greatest player to every play the game of hockey is included has no *******in clue what hes talking about!

Okay, I don't agree with what he/she wrote but to call Lawler the greatest player to ever play the game is frankly a little insulting to a number of American and Canadians. Erika is less than 5 feet tall and she's good but that's a gross exaggeration!

Re: US National Teams: U30s & Mrs. Potter, U22s, U18s Part II

Wayne Gretzky was the greatest player ever. He is currently not on the Kings roster. Why? He doesn't have it anymore.

Is Alex not as good as Molly? I think Alex is way better. HUX says Molly had an "Excellent" game, she gave up 5 goals. J.Quick has given up 2 goals in 3+ Stanley Cup games. Team USA needs that type of goalie, thus give someone else a shot.

Lawler (I'm sure is an A+ lady) didn't see any ice in the Gold Medal game. Are you saying the coach put the "greatest player ever" on the bench and lost the game?

I do think we should add Jenny and Julie Turnover to this list. Are any of these Players going to improve by the next Olympics? No. HUX, an idiot is doing the same and expecting different results. Are there currently 3 better players in the USA Hockey system? I think so and I wish they would get a chance. What is the worst thing that could happen? We come in 2nd place?

HUX, do not call me an idiot because we see things differently and I won't bring up your BMI big boy! Remember that one is an opinion and one is a fact! (google Body Mass Index)

callit,

Making a derogatory statement about Olympians is what is idiotic and wrong. How would you feel if it was your daughter? These players you mention have beat out the competition as seen by the USA committee. They are amazing players and deserving. It's also terrible what you mention in your other posts. Be respectful and try not to belittle or be disrespectful. Hux is very respected and I enjoy his posts. I value his opinion on most things. You not so much. Read your posts and think hard as to why it's wrong. I know it's only your opinion and you're entitled but seriously...

One differtent bounce of the puck and we are not even having this discussion. Look at New Jersey. If they could hit an open net in game 1 or not get caught in a line change in game 2 and it might be 2-1 Devils. The US women did not play their best game that evening but played well enough to win. Whether it was stopping one more shot or burying a rebound, they had their chances. I did get a chance to watch some of the tryouts and I really think they took the players they felt they had the best chance to win with. There are a lot of very talented collegians but you could definitely tell the polished/experienced players on the ice vs the newbees. They all go through the same camps/tryouts and if the older players are losing their edge then it will be time but for now they are still our best players.

"Call It"

"Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt."

Re: US National Teams: U30s & Mrs. Potter, U22s, U18s Part II

I don't think it is unfair to question a national team selection for this age group, but I agree that name calling is dumb at any age level.

Unless I found bad information, the player averaged a goal every three games in college. She had a large number of assists, but many evaluators question a forward's scoring ability when his/her assists are disproportionate to goal scoring on stronger teams. She's tiny. For a national team spot, I can easily see strong arguments for others. That doesn't mean she isn't a great player.

It's very easy to sit behind your computer annonymously and post the rude and insulting comments "callit" posts. I wonder if he/she would post the same comments if using his/her real name.

Players have different roles; rosters filled strictly with top goalscorers tend to underperform and then people wonder why. One of Lawler's greatest strengths is that she brings tremendous energy to a team. Others on the team see how hard she works and want to emulate her effort. Plus, I thought she made linemates better. One reason that Hilary Knight's most productive season came as a sophomore rather than after she had a year of Olympic training and experience is that Lawler was her primary center in her second season. IMO, Lawler is a great asset for a coach that knows how to use her. On a team where the fourth line sits on the bench for the entire championship game, then it really doesn't matter which forwards are picked to round out the depth chart.

I can clearly remember seeing Lawler play in different Frozen Fours where she was the most essential cog in a goal scoring machine. She digs, hustles, makes smart plays, and gets the puck to the right place to generate offense. She's a very unselfish player, yet not to a fault. She makes good things happen when she's on the ice, with the puck and away from it.

Resonate with the the comments from both ARM and DC. Well put you guys. Could not agree more.

I still remember the first time I saw Lawler play, many years ago. She must have been about 18 then. We lost 8-4 to the team she played on (Some Minnesota all star team) and she scored 4 goals. Never forgot her name after that. I think Hux and DC might have been at that game, as it was in the Boston Area.

I am not disagreeing with you at all. I think she's a great player but there are others now, equally as good or better who are also bigger. And I just thought calling her the greatest player that ever played was kind of off.

That is somthing of a nic that was bestowed upon her by several of her fans..so don't put too much into it

Has anyone seen an official release about the roster for the August Festival? Ms. Marvin already leaked some of it on her Facebook page...
Congrats to the fellow Gophers invited to USA August Festival in Blaine: Schleper, Bozak, Ramsey, McMillan, Stecklein, Schoullis, West, Erickson, Kessel, Bona, and Brandt.

Yikes, that is half the Gopher roster. Generally the full roster is released in late July, once the U18s have been picked.

Slightly off subject but with the USA Olympic Women's Bball team winning by 38 and 32 points, next match an expected 35 point win has anyone heard of banning Women's bouncy ball from the Olympics? By the way it's been reported they were on cruise.

They should ban Michael Phelps too while they're at it, because he's won more way Olympic medals than Canada and the U.S. women's hockey teams put together.
