US Junior Team Part II

Re: US Junior Team Part II

I just realized there won't be a USA-Canada New Years Eve game next year as they won't be in the same group. Sad.

What a buzzkill. I was already considering a trip to Buffalo to give Canadian fans (not their team) a little taste of their own medicine.

Re: US Junior Team Part II

Team USA will need to keep those quick passes into transition, but with more precision. The key for the US will be to get to outside on Canada, get pucks deep and go to the net. And when Canada has the puck in their own end, make their D carry the puck or force them into D-to-D passing.

The US will need to hold the zone more and finish 5 on 5, but I expect a relentless backcheck from CAN. I also don't see CAN giving up two shorties and while the US was brilliant on the counter-attack iirc none of their even-stengthed goals were the result of it. Unless CAN has a complete coaching meltdown, the US should expect to see a different team this time around making far less mistakes. imho for the US to win we have to hope for some early Canadian jitters follwed by an early goal, another spectacular PK and a soft goal for the US, as well (Campbell?) standing on his head.

No way does Campbell start. While Lee was sort of shaky against Finland giving up lots of rebounds while stopping 42 shots, he looked stellar against the Swedes last night.

Don't you mean "he looked stella against the Swedes"? Mike Lee does play for St, Clooud, afterall.

That really does suck. The fact that Canada and the US might not even play each other at next year's worlds is a huge buzzkill.

I was starting to look into buying a ticket package solely because I'd get that game at face value.

Keep NHL Network on - The US Under 17s gold medal game vs. Canada-Ontario has been added - live broadcast at 7pm ET tonight.

GOD DAMMIT. I really miss being at home where I had NHL network!

The real world sucks. I would have loved to watch that as a tune up for tomorrow's game.

Re: US Junior Team Part II

US up 1-0 on Canada-Ontario in the 2nd. Reid Boucher (MSU '12) from Tyler Biggs (Miami '11) and Rocco Grimaldi on the scoring.

Re: US Junior Team Part II

really curious what rocco's plans are. he hasn't committed yet and wasn't in the OHL draft
