Too bad for the UVM (and HE) fans. He might only have been a "one and done", but I would have liked to have seen him play.
I have to agree. And someone just mentioned Johnny Gaudreau in this thread. Is Girgensons really that much better than Kreider, Gaudreau, or Kyle Rau? I have a hard time believing he is. We shall see, but I can't believe he wouldn't have benefited greatly from a year of two of college hockey. We just saw Kreider play for three years. I think he was a better show. Faster, more strength, more polished and NHL ready than Girgenson.
Z signed a pro contract, not an NHL contract. I don't expect to see him start the season in BUFF.... Rochester is where he will likely be out of camp. Both his USHL coach (who also coached Gaudreau) and BUFF staff believe he 's ready for the pros now. Not sure why you don't want to believe them. There is no secret formula. You gather all of the info, talk with your family and make a decision. I wish the kid luck. Credit goes to Sneddon for ID'ing the kid at a young age. Time to put it in the rearview, as I'm sure Coach already has.I have to agree. And someone just mentioned Johnny Gaudreau in this thread. And as Merrimack fan, I got to see Da Costa for 2 years which was great. I just think it is a treat for college hockey fans to see some of these top notch players even for a year or 2; Vermont fans aren't gonna get that chance. We just saw Kreider play for three years. I think he was a better show. Faster, more strength, more polished and NHL ready than Girgenson.
Unless Little Johnny (5'7", 150 pounds) develops kevlar skin and rubber bones, he'll never survive the AHL, to say nothing of the NHL.I have to agree. Vermont: D1 (39 seasons) - 5 NCAA appearances. D2 (10 seasons) - 0 NCAA appearances.
Lowell: D1 (28 seasons) - 4 NCAA appearances. D2 (17 seasons) - 5 NCAA appearances, 3 National Titles
I agree, Aaron Miller would be a great choice! I believe he lives in the Burlington area and is otherwise available to do it, right?
You can throw the Gionta brothers and Gerbe in there also. Poor guys are way too small for the pros.Just like all those other guys, St. Louis, Fleury, ... they play a season or two and are out of there because they are too small... Oh wait... I guess you haven't seen the NHL since before the lockout.
Somewhat agree, but comparing Miller to Joey is a joke. No way to compare the knowledge or the rep. I think possible recruits would listen a lot more to a NHL player and Olympian,I think Miller enjoys his current gig a lot more: owning the Buffalo Wild Wings franchise in SB, along with a few others in Western NY with his business partner. UVM needs someone with experience, because we all know the alum on the bench has none despite his "family ties."
What else is there to do in Lowell ? Easy to be bitter.Lol, wow Umass Lowell fans coming in and talking smack after one good year? Sucks he ditched.

Gaudreau does need to put a little meat and strength on his bones before he is near ready, but the BC staff seems to do a pretty good job at that. Johnny certainly has the talent for the big show, just needs to get a bit stronger on the puck.
The Gionta bros...good call, I would not put little nate in that group....at least not yet, correct me if I am wrong but he has been pro for 3 years? Not a full season yet, average numbers at best? No not yet!
