Re: University of Vermont off-season thread, ( Let the Zemgus Girgensons Era Begin! )
Upsets happen in the NCAAs. UVM has a much stronger history than Lowell does (or ever will have). This comes from a guy who can't stand UVM either.
That wasn't an upset, at least not to anyone who knows a thing about college hockey. But still, excellent prediction!
And since taking your opinion on things hasn' worked so well in the past, I decided to look up both schools NCAA history - ya know, just for giggles.
Vermont: D1 (39 seasons) - 5 NCAA appearances. D2 (10 seasons) - 0 NCAA appearances.
Lowell: D1 (28 seasons) - 4 NCAA appearances. D2 (17 seasons) - 5 NCAA appearances, 3 National Titles
Once again, spot on. That extra NCAA appearance in 11 more seasons (completley dismissing the Division 2 stuff) is as total and complete domination as I've seen. Astounding. Seriously, I had to take a knee after reading those stats. I should have been genuflecting to Vermont all this time.
As for head-to-head, Lowell leads 10-9-4 since Vermont came into Hockey East. (neither team being able to sweep the other during each team's historically bad season btw, which I found amusing)
I guess we'll see where the teams stand this season on Oct. 12, when Vermont opens up the regular season in Lowell.
