University of North Dakota, version 2.0

Re: University of North Dakota, version 2.0

Sioux fans were about 50/50 in the World Arena tonight. CC followed their usual pattern of playing lights out on Friday and not even showing up on Saturday. Looked flat all night, didn't hit double digit shots until the 3rd.
Sioux need to shake their Friday night slump streak after the off week!

Re: University of North Dakota, version 2.0

Drove down from Denver to check out the Sioux as our only series was in Grand Forks this season. They spanked CC. Beat them to the puck all over the ice all night long. You could tell that Hakstol had lit a serious fire in the locker room after Friday's game. The Sioux are a super talented team--tons of depth. I was very impressed with Gregoire, Frattin and Kristo. What's the word on Genoway? I think you guys have the best shot at running the table that you've had in a while.

They're very talented with great depth, but they've had issues with consistency lately.
No word on Genoway as of yet...hopefully we hear something this week about how long he might be out.

Quiz was sitting next to him in the press box. Give him a couple weeks, she said

Ok Sioux fans remember to place your Hobey vote every 24 hours.

Another day means another vote for Matt or Chay.:) I just voted did you?
http://www.hobeybakeraward.com

Maple Leafs are also showing their support for Matt.
http://mapleleafs.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=549341

There are 68 Hobey candidates and Matt was getting 68% of the entire vote.
Now he is down to ONLY 60%.:)

Seems that Chay with a respectible 5% needs more votes.
Bumped back up. Don't forget to vote! :)

Re: University of North Dakota, version 2.0

OK, I have looked into my crystal ball, and I have seen the final standings in the WCHA. It looks like this ; UND 42 points, DU 41, UMD 38. I didn't see anything beyond the first three, nor do I think any other team has a shot at first in the league. UMD has the toughest remaining schedule, with home games with MN, SCSU and UNO and road games with Mankato and CC. DU has home games with CC, SCSU and MTU and road games with CC, MN and UNO. UND has home games with AA and BSU, and road games with SCSU and MTU. It could come down to the last game of the season at MTU for the MacNaughton.

For real?
That would be great if true...I haven't seen the hit/fall, but others have said that it looked pretty brutal on his knee.
With the off week, and then UAA, it would be great if he could be back after that for the stretch run.

I didn't think it brutal at all. It was really strange. In fact, when they showed the replay before Genoway got up and was helped off the ice, it was almost impossible to determine what he injured on the play. I was a little afraid he may have hit his head again.

It wasn't a hard hit. When they showed the replay again it looked like he might have caught the toe of his left skate blade on a seam in the board, or something which caused a slight twisting action.

From the hit, I'm hoping Quiz is right. However, he sure looked like he was in a lot of pain as he was laying on the ice, and being helped off.

I think you're being overly optimistic. 7-1 over the last 8 for UND is probably the best we can hope for, but I wouldn't be surprised with a 6-2 finish. But let's assume you're right, and we get the 42 points.

I don't see DU going only 7-3, with their schedule, these last 10 games. That would really be a worst case scenario for them, with a loss to MN, UNO and CC.

The Mac would be great, but it's DU's to puke up at this point. The goal should be top 2 in order to avoid a Thursday game in St. Paul in March.

7-1 is a very realistic record over the last 8. We SHOULD sweep UAA and BSU at home, and MTU has only won 1 game all year in conference, so that should be a sweep. All we would have to do is split @ SCSU to get to 7 wins. That would force DU to go 8-2. They play a much more difficult schedule. They SHOULD sweep MTU at home, but have difficult series with Minnesota, SCSU and UNO, along with a home/home series with their rival CC. While they could go 8-2 in that stretch...if they DO, then they deserve the MacNaughton. I think a 7-3 or 6-4 record is more likely against that competition. Duluth also plays a more difficult schedule, and for them to go 9-1 in that stretch is unrealistic.

I think we could very well see the last weekend decide the MacNaughton. Sioux play @ Tech, while Denver hosts SCSU and UMD hosts UNO. I would like our chances.

I still think finishing the season 8-0 is well within the picture. We are playing 4 of the bottom 5 teams.

That's what I like to see. A sweep for the rest of the season. Glass overflowing.

Something else worth seeing is the new 2011 Minnesota Offseason Thread. Evidently UAA just crushed their glass.

Re: University of North Dakota, version 2.0

They can go 8-0 the rest of the way. The key will be taking care of business at home. The remaining schedule at home is weak but the team needs to knuckle down and take care of business. No more stinkers at home. On the road they have been pretty solid this year.

Finishing in 1st will also get us a date with tech in the 1st round. Bemidji would be a much more dangerous opponent.
