University of Maine Off-season 2024: Insert Pun Here

Breazeale, Scott, Breen and Josh Nadeau have all confirmed they’re returning in a video posted on the Maine hockey Instagram page.

Awesome news! THAT MADE MY DAY!!!

Not sure Maine will be doing much now in the portal.

In any case, on the portal watch… Whitelaw went to Michigan.

Fabulous news indeed, Maine should be in pretty good shape now for next season.

I do think its possible they still try to add one more impact forward, probably on the wing, but if they ended up staying pat it would also make sense.

Rumor has it a pretty good out of conference team is coming to Alfond next season for 2 games

I'd be kind of surprised if it was someone in the absolute top tier a la North Dakota or Denver, and I can't imagine any of the powers in the B1G (i.e, Gophers or Wolverines) trekking to Orono. Omaha was also recently here just a few years ago, right before covid hit, so probably not them either. I'm thinking maybe Western, like someone else said, or perhaps Colorado College?

EDIT: Now that I think about it, Maine did go out to Denver to play the Pios I believe two years ago, so maybe them? Probably not, wishful thinking, but sure would be cool to see them come thru town as the defending champs.

My guess is Western Michigan or Colorado College. I don't think that we see any top tier big names until the Alfond/Walsh renovations are complete.

Maine played the Icebreaker tournament at Air Force and at Denver in October 2022.

Maine has recently completed home and homes with Miami, Duluth and Omaha of the NCHC. Maine was scheduled with Pedo State in 2021-22 but the trip to Happy Valley was canceled because of COVID-19 and never rescheduled.

As for CCHA teams, a series with St Thomas would be interesting. The Tommies were second in the regular season and are coached by Rico Blasi, formerly of the aforementioned Miami team.

You guys follow more recruiting than me. Maybe there’s other guys coming. That’s 27 players not including Carney. Was he on scholarship last year or a walk on? I know the limit is 18 scholarships, not sure who is getting partial or some other combination of aid.

Fowler has 3 years of eligibility left, so you should list him as a sophomore. Carney red-shirted due to back injury. He also has 3 years of eligibility left and can be considered a sophomore.

Other incoming recruits: Patrich Raftery, Nick Peluso, Zac Sommers, Brian Morse

Looks like we went from the sky is falling, to with improved goaltending Maine can compete again at a high level. Next season should be fun once again. : )

I think one more top 9 forward would really help Maine, and one puck moving D. Hansen-Bukata might have been a good add. Maine will be hoping Hopper takes a step forward.

Solid team leadership returning next season is huge. They will set the Barr for the rest of the team pretty high. Will miss Houle but the heart and soul returns with some nice intriguing additions. Agree, next season will be a blast.

Interesting they scheduled them when the students are gone

They don't have much choice of when to bring in non-conference opponents. It's usually early or during break. I'm just glad that they are on the home schedule!

On a side note....what is going on with this forum?
