University of Maine Off-season 2024: Insert Pun Here

Bradley, you have missed the boat son. Wishing you the best, but when you are supposed to be and expected to be a leader and you give us this chit? Move on, shaking my head. There's obviously more than meets the eye with this story.

Hard call on the hobey, thought Gauthier would get it.
Jeeez, North Vancouver, BC is home of half of the Freshman Hobey winners.

I bet Cellibrini leaves because his development is being hindered by having to play with the BU crew…

BU is the team I love to hate, they were the great villain back in the day. But they got screwed by the refs, simple as that. Those 2 guys should never get near the ice in any NCAA game.

Who doesn't hate BU?

But, yeah, the big 10 refs stunk to Hell. I've never seen such obvious penalties go uncalled. That's pretty much a unanimous opinion.

I guess he knows better...ha-ha on that...well he will find out fast...problem might be the town he's from thinks he walks on water...oh well he's gone and Maine will go on from it.

I don't see what the big deal is, thats how he feels, good luck finding a place in the big show.

Guess you could be right...but hoping Josh returns as he was truly a valuable player for Maine...he wasn't limited as a one trick pony as Bradley...in that he adjusted and played a 200' game...he was dangerous whenever he was on the ice...compared to Bradley who never adjusted enough to the way teams defended him...take his slapper away and if he didn't play any other way the other teams basically neutralized his game. And with out Bradley around...you will see Josh didn't need him to pump up his game..just imo..if I had a pick...Josh would be my first choice...but then...oh well on that.

I don’t see why people are ragging on Bradley. He was a first rounder, they leave early. Sure we wanted him back, that’s why people are mad. We wanted him back because he was good. He was the top scorer on the team, and the deadliest shot/sniper. Let’s not twist this and act like he wasn’t and that what he said is a bad thing. He wants to be a pro, surround himself with better players, and make money. If we can’t support that then we will be a fan base that doesn’t want top end talent for fear they leave early. Seems foolish. Look at BC and BU. They made the frozen four because they had more Bradley’s than Maine did. There isn’t anything wrong with his family or the town he grew up in. That is just sour grapes hogwash because the fans wanted him for one more year to give a run at a NCAA frozen four. Just support the kid, he’s a Blackbear and will represent our program in the pros.

Tonights game, DU keeps it close into the 3rd...... If BC loses it would shock the shit out of me but DU scored close to 5 goals a game on average and their goalie is hot. We all know what a hot goalie can do.

While I like BC's chances, I have immense respect for Denver and its program and would make no such assumptions that BC has this in the bag. This Denver team that led the nation in scoring has now managed to completely transition to winning three straight 2-1 games in crunch time. They are experienced, well-rounded, well coached, have won over 30 games and beat BC on BC's home ice earlier this season. Denver winning would be an upset, but certainly not a shock.

If you take Bradly's words purely at face value, he didn't really say anything "offensive" or "disparaging", he just spoke facts. It's objectively true that he's gonna be surrounded with and practicing against better players with Carolina than he would here, obviously if he's going against Svechnikov and Aho but even if he's playing against other roster bubble guys or prospects such as himself it's still true. Maine is also probably done practicing for a while, or at the very least won't be practicing with the same intensity and energy as they would for game prep, while Carolina has potentially up to another two months of practice time prepping for the biggest games. There's really no need to assume negative intent or malice in his words, especially as through text alone It's impossible to imply any sort of tone with how he delivered it. And besides, you think he would just trash his brother like that publicly? Which he would be if there was truly disrespect intended with his words, which I don't think there was. I will admit I was a little miffed about it reading it last night, but quickly realized that it was no big deal and that we as Maine fans don't really have a reason to be upset about it, in my view.

Exactly. That is the danger of falling in love with these players. Some end up bleeding Maine blue....and others like Bradly just pass through and shrug their shoulders. I disliked his attitude almost from Day 1....he wreaked of "I'm better than this....what am I doing here?". I loved the glimpses of magic that he had with his brother on the ice but those days are over for him unless he and Josh lace them up at his family's ice rink. Good luck to him......but like he felt about being in Orono.....meh.

Key for Denver is score first...keep the game simple and not a fast break game...play physical but smart....Denver 4 BC 2.

yup and I honestly think the words were spoken out of immaturity, not realizing what he was saying.

kindof tastes like Gretzky’s line…but in this case, Brad didn’t want to play for a Mickey Mouse organization. (Just stating facts)

As a fan what more can you want, he came to Orono, he helped turn the team around into a contender and he got what he wanted a contract with a chance to move up to the NHL. I'd think that would help bring in other high end talent? Tit for tat, we got wins and he gets paid.

Watch any of the big team BBall colleges, they come in, show off their talent and leave for the NBA. Cooper Flagg hanging at Duke for more than a season?? I doubt it when we are talking life changing money.

I found the source of the article because he specifically says that quote in the paper. If you listen to the rest of the interview he specifically is thankful for playing with his brother and the entire team. He specifically says playing with the Maine team everyday got him to where he is now. So this is the context. I see nothing here that seems ungrateful or out of line.

Agreed. No need to be bashing the kid, he's betting on himself and good on him. Hope he succeeds, will be a good showing for our program.

Right now I think it's what Breen & J.Nadeau coming back that might be slowing the Portal...are they returning...1 or both or,imo neither coming back...for Breen he has a 5th year...for Nadeau he has Montreal talking to him...and both could be on some other NHL's team radar...like a San Jose/Minnesota/Chicago...teams that are on the big time rebuild or lacking salary cap space(MN.)...I would assume if both leave that some forward or two will be added.....thinking once the Frozen 4 weekend is over you will see more from Maine on addressing its roster for 2024-25.
