University of Maine Off-season 2024: Insert Pun Here

Agreed. No need to be bashing the kid, he's betting on himself and good on him. Hope he succeeds, will be a good showing for our program.

His Youtube interview gave us the context.

Best of luck to him. One year of Bradley was far better than no years of Bradley.

Brett Brown coach of the year waited too long to pull his goalie. Just to think Denver almost lost the first game to UMass and now they are champs. And that closes the book on another hockey season.

Wasn’t Brett Brown a South Portland basketball star in the 80’s?

Meh…plenty of missed open nets and whiffs on cross ice passes. A reasonable mind could see that as choking. 6 of one half dozen of the other.

Wasn't Gauthier the guy who missed the open net early in the first? Also DU first goal, talk about luck, that had several caroms before it went in. Great game to watch if you ask me.

Yes it was...action...missed chances...dings off the post...lots of what if and remember that save(s)...and BC lost....priceless.

It was Gasseau that hit the post early when most of the net was open.

Gustafson hit a post late in the game from a left point shot.

Gauthier was the one that was cocky pregame and said “there will be a lot of tears on their side” when asked what to expect in the game. Then he has tears in his eyes in a post game lockeroom interview. He jinxed his team.

I thought he missed completely on a puck that hit boards behind net but I see post on replay

I was looking thru the portal list to see who else is remaining for options, and a name that caught my eye that I haven't seen anyone mention yet is Ross Mitton from Colgate. He had 11-19-30 in 34 GP this year, and had a primary assist against Maine in the series we played against the Raiders back in January. Consistently described as "high motor", I think he could be a good pickup for us.

Seems like a good player. I haven’t been tracking guys with just 1 year left. I’m more interested in Maine landing guys with 3 years left and to a lesser extent 2 years left. But I know Mitton plays very physical and high speed, similar to Houle. Has a bit more offensive skill and play making than Houle.

I was half-heartedly pulling for BC, just on the basis of HEA loyalty...

But Denver earned it. Has any team ever won the natty while scoring 8 goals in total, and giving up but 3?

I doubt it. Amazing, really.

wasn’t DU’s first goal against UMass the same? Hit the goalie helmet, bounced up, landed on the helmet again and then went in behind the goalie

Not knowing but could be J.Nadeau & Breen returning?...hard to say. Figure and this is just me,that we know what both are doing going forward....signing a deal for next season by a NHL team as in minor league deal or coming back to Maine this upcoming week..(?maybe?).
