University of Maine Off-season 2024: Insert Pun Here

Teams may be waiting to see who signs after tourney finished before going after free agents?

Yes indeed...in Maine situation..."IF" both Breen & J.Nadeau return it would not be out of the realm of possibilities that Maine would be finish adding...and with both back(if)Maine mostly would have an idea that next season they would need to add from the portal to replace both and figure there incoming recruits from this year and next year after coming in....the Portal can be great to fix and add and it can turn a plan in place back to the drawing board...it's the sign of the times in College Hockey..the Staff has to be on the ball 24/7/365...with plan in place but 2nd and 3rd options if roster goes on the roller coaster route.

Jeremy Wilmer from BU has entered the portal. He is a small and nifty left shot wing that is a strong playmaker, good at distributing the puck. He has two years left for eligibility. He is a 4.25 rated player from Nuetral zone. So I will add him to the list…

Jeremy Wilmer - LC - 4.25 - ?
Steven Sardarian - LC - 4.0 - 0.76

Luigi Benincasa - RW - 3.5 - 0.53
Michael Emerson - RW - 4.0 - (-0.1)

Defense

Dylan Gratton - LD - 3.75 - 0.71

Nate Benoit - LD - 4.0 - 0.19
Ben Brunette - LD - 4.0 - (-0.04)
Lachlan Getz - RD - 3.75 - ?

Wilmer would fit in nicely here and could be a replacement for Bradly -not the same players but he can score

My darkhorse is still Stiven Sardarian but he may go elsewhere on the east coast

I heard that Wilmer is likely to land at either Miami or Arizona State.

I still don't think anyone will be added until Breen/J.Nadeau decide if they are returning for 2024-25.

I would have to think the staff has some idea of how this will play out, even if they may not know for 100% certain yet

Albin Boija now on central scouting North American goalie list at #22… https://media.d3.nhle.com/image/private/t_document/prd/p7mtlgbydpk77a6v21uu.pdf

Nice to see...hopefully Boija and incoming Berzins can form a solid tandem...goaltending is a must in any team winning...but this coming season will be needed +++....anyone else watching the NCAA's saw the performance of DU's Davis....great to clutch, game stealing 'tending is the recipe to winning teams/programs...from the net out.

A couple of interesting players entered the portal today…

Riley Thompson - LW- 3.25 - (?) Big left shot wing, power forward, 6’4” and 200 lbs, had 24 points his freshman season at Alaska-Anchorage.

Colby Ambrosio - RC - 4.75 - (?) Small right shot center, play maker, quick nifty, thinks the game ahead, good vision, playmaker passer, 5’8” and 162 lbs, has one year of eligibility left. He had scored more significantly in previous seasons. Seems like he got buried on BC’s roster? Maybe no power play time either?

On Ambrosio, I’m interested to see what he could do in a different environment to see if he can play up to his rare and high nuetral zone rating if he played on a top line and top power play unit.

Thompson might be a tad slow, but he’s got size and skill and plays a heavy game. BU has a couple of those types that work for them in front of the net.

Bradley all but scored in his debut. He had one chance where he was at the net front setting screen, puck winds up behind the goalie on the line at rest, he tries to get a stick on it behind the goalie and takes a big hit to the grill keeping him away from the puck. He wound up with a bloody lip. Welcome to the big leagues. He also had three other quality shots on net… two one timers on the power play from his favorite spot on the left face off dot, and then a back hander from in close. He was in front of the net all night setting screens and looking for tips. Got one redirect that went wide and across the crease. He drew one penalty to put Carolina on a power play. He had a very good debut.
