University of Maine 2024–2025: Freel-ing good

Seems like with Providence they don’t know how to play in OT. Can’t trap and clog up the neutral zone with 3 players. They are a bit like a fish out of water in OT against a team that has good speed and skill.

The Black Bears did better against the Friers than the Sun Devils did, congratulations!
ASU is at #13 now. Congrats. Hopefully they can make the NCAAs. They’ve become my second favorite team since I pay so much money to ASU now for my son. I went to couple football games there this year in Tempe(vs. Kansas and vs. Utah). What a great year for Sun Devils football. Good luck down the stretch. Fork ‘em

I don't remember being excited about 2 ties from a weekend series but any points from a road series in HE this season is good. I also don't remember to many games with 2 majors where both got killed off. Maine must be in pretty good shape to kill that one late, I figured they would be gassed and PC would score easily. Neimo major was a real cheap shot, Daltons was more of lack of control in tight but he deserved the exit door also. Doesn't make a lot of sense for 2 guys trying to get more playing time.

On to uhn, wouldn't take this series lightly. they always play Maine tight in regular season.

Tough series for sure. I'd be happy getting out of Dodge with 4 of a possible 6 points. PC reminds me a lot of UMass....big, physical and can skate. Maines not too shabby though. :) Yeah, onto UHN. This series will be the cats entire season if they can eek out a win. Sure cant look past them, points and rpi too important.
Ice was highly contested all weekend and players get pizzed and frustrated all the time, but you cant lose your head even for a second. Im sure Dalton and Niemo learned that lesson.

Makar sure has shown several times this year that he can snipe a goal if he has a look at the net even though the goalie has a clean look.
Its something successful teams have to be able to do.

Wonder if Dalton will get a game suspension.
Havent looked at the replay again but recalling from last nights replay it looked intentional enough. But maybe there was enough going on there that it wont be looked at.

Where’s Drew to complain somehow? Lol.

In all seriousness, that was gritty as hell to come out with 4 points in a road series, against a top team, where you largely got outplayed.

Time to start the Albin Boija for Richter train. Also, Taylor Makar has been out of his mind lately. Another excellent pickup from Barr and his staff.

It wasn’t two ties. It was a win and a tie.

Maine has 1 loss in its last 9 games. If we exclude empty net goals ALL were one goal difference. This is fantastic since the mark of a great team is the refusal to lose and to find a way to come back and tie or win. Already looking forward to the series with UNH. I think someone needs to throw a stuffed animal whale on the ice after Maine’s first goal. That would be legendary.

My doctor would prefer if the team won at least one game by a few goals to reduce the stress on my heart...

Nice! Also, you got to come to an ASU hockey game, tailgating in 75-80F weather, beer & taco's in the sun, shorts & sandals, put the jersey on when you walk into the arena to stay warm......😉👹

Maine has played one game since Jan. 1 against a team not currently projected in the tournament- Northeastern. 6-2-2 in that time.

Playing two at home against the 18th team in the PWR, who happen to be your archrivals, is a "break." Jeesh.

Also, Merrimack passed Providence in the HEA standings (PC is 7th in HEA, 6th in PWR), so that's your terrifying 2 vs. 7 matchup right now.

I said the same thing verbatim to a coworker in anticipation of the UNH series 😂😂.

2/3 of a win :)
For the pairwise, the thing that really matters, it is a win. I like the fact the team can come out either tied or ahead if it’s an OT win. No need to discredit them. You absolutely want a battle tested team come playoff time because this will be tight games. I’d take this team over the team last year in the playoffs for that reason. This team has learned how to be scrappy whereas I felt last years team could not fight back. The Cornell game would be different if Cornell from last year played this team this year. With Ostman in net and a team that didn’t seem to grind in tight games or from behind… easy out when adversity came. This team seems to take adversity as a challenge. Spotting the #7 team in the country 10 minutes of uninterrupted power play time on their home ice is definition of adversity and fighting an uphill battle. They did that and it is not only a win, but one of the more impressive feats this season. If I could count it as more of a win I would. So put that in your pipe and smoke it.

I’m not sure how UNH is that high still. They’ve won 1 game in their last 9. This is when the league schedule set in and they couldn’t feast on cup cakes. When the going got tough UNH folded like a cheap tent. I expect Maine to out everything UNH this weekend because Maine has shown it likes to drag teams into the cave and go to work. I haven’t seen that sort of work ethic from that UNH team. But of course anything can happen. Though it would surprise me if UNH put up a challenge Maine can’t overcome.
