University of Maine 2024–2025: Freel-ing good

Obviously RPI isn’t the greatest team in the world but it was nice to see Maine have a solid period defensively. Hopefully we can see more of that against hockey east teams.

I don't understand this narrative that Maine is a porous team defensively. They've allowed more than two goals on only three occasions this year, and one of those the 3rd goal was an empty netter. They have also outshot every opponent they've played and rarely allow over 30 shots, not to mention all the shots they block. Which element of that indicates they are struggling on defense?

Just that Holt is out, and now Dalton went off gimpy. This is why Barr always has an extra defensemen for the extra skater though. I hope Dalton is ok. Seemed like he took a big hit against the boards and wasn’t putting weight on one leg.

Maine dominated that period territorially. Let’s hope they just keep foot on the gas and NOT drop back in a trap. Breen, Fowler, Russell really dominating today. Nice to see Breen get on a line and gain some chemistry with linemates. Now just need get Josh going again.

Does the ice suck or what, lots of stopped pucks

I see a lot of bracing for the hit and whiffing on passes. RPI is fairly physical and has few big boys. Luckily they are sluggish so Maine has been getting it through the neutral zone easily.

Is that Breens 1st hat trick at maine?
Hope not his last. Injury didnt look good, down for a long time. Just when his rehab was looking like it was back to normal.
Hoping for a speedy recovery and nothing serious.

That was his first
he had 4 2-goal games (according to my quick review of his history)
