University of Maine 2024–2025: Freel-ing good

If Breen is out then you wonder if Komarov gets promoted to fill in for Breen and Pichette centers the 4th line? Pichette played center for Penticton Vees(BCHL).

Lines could look like:
*****************
Freel/Scott/Nadeau
Makar/Renwick/Mitton
Fowler/Komarov/Russell
Scholle/Pichette/Califiore

Pairs
****
Brazeale/Djurecevic
Djuresevic/Arnott
Lesakowski/Antonacci

Goalie:
******
Boija

I’d think about switching Russell and Mitton as well.

Russell and Fowler have been playing well together. So why would you want to do that?

Also, that still doesn’t have anything to do with who plays center with Breen out. Unless you are saying you want Mitton to play center.

So what are your thoughts on replacing Breen at center?

Reason I asked is if you watch the replay you can see Bremen’s right leg buckle and fold in a bad way which would be the twist and down force needed to tear ligaments. I am quite certain it is a knee issue after watching that and freeze framing it.

I understand through the grapevine that he had off season knee surgery

looks like it might not have been completely recovered. And I was so psyched that he looked like his old self at unh snd at RPI

The vid looks like mcl to me.
and I can’t imagine how a hockey skate could allow an achilles injury (can that happen?)

This is probably the least disruptive forward alignment Barr could utilize going forward. No real reason to blow up the lines to adjust to a potential Breen injury so I'm all for it.

Komarov has played well enough that I would like to see him get a little more ice time anyways. Slotting him between Russell and Fowler could end up being quite a tenacious trio to play against.

I think with Breen out you need to do some consolidating and Russell offers more offensively. It seems like the Renwick line has cooled off as the season has gone on so maybe a shakeup would help them.

No grapevine needed, Breen and Barr have both talked about it in interviews this season. Though nothing specific.
At the end of last year a knee injury was talked about.

Was there today.

The Breen injury happened right in front of us. He was moving his knee and ankle after that, but was definitely in a lot of pain.

I met an engineer from Maine on the way back home, at a Thruway rest stop. Once I saw his sweater, I walked right up to him, and we had a great and very pithy conversation about all things Maine. (The guy was from South Portland, and Billy Swift was his LL coach, FCS!!!) He guessed that Maine fans outnumbered RPI fans. Not sure about THAT, but there was a lot of Blue to be seen.

Anyhoo, he sat across the rink from us, and saw Breen return to the bench, bearing weight on both his hind legs. Hopeful sign there.

It was so much fun to see this team in person. Russel and Breazele impressed me the most, aside from Scott and Breen. Chatted a little with Mama Fowler and Mama Renwick in the Will Call queue, too.

We are family, ain't we?

Good to hear he put weight on it. Better than hearing he put no weight on it. The tv wouldn’t show anything after he went down and Barr started walking out on the ice. Breen just started heating up developing chemistry with Fowler and Russell. Hope he is ok.

Djuresevic goal was a bomb, hit the twine before goalie got over. Would like to know the mph of that one. He did a Bradly impression. Maybe they need him camp out down on that left dot on the power play more often.

I have his signature, along with 11 others, on a hat I had from early 80s(when I was a little leaguer). My Dad used to take me to watch them and I loved it. The players used to go out of their way to talk to kids and give us autographs. That field UMaine played on had the worst black flies in the history of baseball fields. For some reason the ones that hatched there were a different species all together. They took bug dope as a challenge and the more you used seemed to encourage them.

BDN saying he was brought to a local hospital so that can't be good. I could ask a close source but don't feel comfortable doing it but I'm expecting the worst

I don't remember black flies at mahaney but I remember Billy swift playing center field in a regional and throwing a strike from center field to home plate to easily throw a guy out trying to score on s single to center. If Maine had a relief pitcher they could have won CWS. Some great teams back then .

Breen going to hospital isn't good at all. Hope he is OK but I expect him to not play for awhile

Maine is ripe for the picking today. Hopefully they focus and win one for Breen. They have depth to overcome this but the mental part of the game could be a challenge.

Line chart up on HE. Russell to centre, with Scholle on his right wing. Pichette takes the right wing spot on the 4th.

I guess we’ll see who is competitive enough to step up.
Wally Pip was a great ball player and he took one day off.

Good choice. Charlie played center at Clarkson for handful of games. Scholle played off wing last year with Freel and Scott. He has a nice up cut from above and at right dot. So this should be a great line. Like the lines despite Breen out. Hopefully everyone else puts in extra effort to get out of this series with a sweep.
